Bazyli Skalski was a printer in Cracow in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. Skalski began his printing career in the Drukarnia Łazarzowa, which had been founded in Cracow in the mid-sixteenth century by Łazarz Andrysowicz Łazarz Andrysowicz (died 1577) was a Polish Renaissance printer, founder of the Oficyna Łazarzowa. Łazarz Andrysowicz
Łazarz Andrysowicz (died 1577) was a Polish Renaissance printer, founder of the Oficyna Łazarzowa. He published about 270 books, prized for their high quality for the times. Biography Łazarz Andrysowicz was born in Stryków on an unknown date. In 1550 he married Barbara, widow of the Kraków printer Hieronymus Vietor, and thus became the owner of the latter's printing office. Having expanded and updated the printing facilities, Andrysowicz began printing books as the ''Drukarnia Łazarzowa'' (Łazarz Printing House). After Andrysowicz's death, his son, Jan Januszowski took over his printing business. Publishing activities Andrysowicz's printing office published about 270 works, of which about 130 were in Polish. The press was famed for its high quality printing and editing. Simon Syrenius
Simon Syrenius ( pl, Szymon Syreński) (1540–1611) was a pre-Linnean Polish botanist and academic. A native of Oświęcim, he taught at the Jagiellonian University. Anna Vasa served as his patron, and with her help, Syrenius published a botanic atlas in five volumes consisting of 1,540 pages describing 765 plants. Zielnik (Herbarium) The first edition of Syrenius' botanical atlas was published by Bazyli Skalski in Cracow in 1613 under the title: The ''Zielnik'' is an illustrated atlas of practical plants, which includes information about the most important known and used plants in central and southern Europe in the sixteenth century. The work describes 765 plants, primarily medicinal ones, and their usage in the home, in industry, and in veterinary medicine.
