Bayzo
Bayzo (3 April 1947 – 1 February 2018) was a Maltese singer born in St. Paul's Bay. He is known for his unique voice and songs such as "Qalu li raw", which was played at the Malta Song Festival in 1986. Career The Malta Bums During his sixty-year-long career, he had been one of the main singers of ''The Malta Bums''. His song ''L-Ewwel Tfajla li ħabbejt'' remains known. Bayzo, along with Freddie Portelli, Brethren Paul, Mario Pirrone, Tony Muscat and Tony Bartolo, and later member Freddie Scicluna were meeting in the fields of St Paul's Bay areas and singing. From there, ''The Malta Bums'', originally known as ''The Bums'', were founded. With The Malta Bums, Bayzo lived and played in Germany for six months, where he originated Viva Malta at the end of 1967. Malta Song Festival
Although Malta is a small island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea with a small population, it is nonetheless rich in its history and its culture. When in the 1950s, in nearby Italy the San Remo Festival, and later in Switzerland, the Eurovision Song Contest came into existence, Malta soon followed suit by organizing its own National Song Festival. Origins and other festivals in Malta The first Malta Song Festival was organized by the Maltese section of the Young Christian Workers movement in 1960. Out of 72 submissions, 20 were chosen for the two semi-finals. Eventually 10 made it for the final of Saturday 5 November 1960. All shows were held at the Radio City Opera House in Hamrun and were transmitted on the island's cable radio system, now extinct, and then better known as Rediffusion. The Labour Party ( mt, Partit Laburista, PL), formerly known as the Malta Labour Party ( mt, Partit tal-Ħaddiema, MLP), is one of the two major political parties in Malta, along with the Nationalist Party. It sits on the centre-left of the political spectrum. The party was founded in 1920 as the Chamber of Labour by a small group of trade unionists. Manoel Theatre
( Maltese for "Manoel Theatre"; it, Teatro Manoel) is a theatre and important performing arts venue in Malta. The theatre is often referred to as simply "The Manoel", and is named after Grand Master of the Order of the Knights Hospitaller, Fra António Manoel de Vilhena, who ordered its construction in 1731. The theatre is reputed to be Europe's third-oldest working theatre (older than the San Carlo in Naples), and the oldest theatre still in operation in the Commonwealth of Nations.
