Bayou Bowl
The Bayou Bowl is an annual high school football all-star bowl game in which the best graduated seniors from Texas and Louisiana play against each other. It has been played at Stallworth Stadium in Baytown, Texas, since it began in 2003. Bowl history The game was conceived as a join collaboration between leaders in the Baytown-Houston area, including the Baytown/West Chambers County, TX Economic Development Foundation, the President of the Baytown Chamber of Commerce, the incoming chair of the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association and a banker from Amegy Bank in Baytown. After the initial success in 2003, leaders of the Bayou Bowl decided to donate proceeds to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children in Galveston and Houston. In 2007, the Bayou Bowl raised $33,000 for the Shriner's Hospitals. Stallworth Stadium
Stallworth Stadium is a stadium in Baytown, Texas. It is primarily used for American football and soccer and is the home field of Robert E. Lee High School, Ross S. Sterling High School, and Goose Creek Memorial High School. All three schools are in the Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District. The stadium holds 16,500 people and opened in 1969 when Memorial Stadium (now Sultis Stadium) on the Robert E. Lee campus became too small. Stallworth Stadium is on a neutral site and not on any of the three campuses in GCCISD. On October 29, 1976, President Gerald Ford attended a game between the Robert E. Galveston Bay Area
The Galveston Bay Area, also known as ''Bay Area Houston'' or simply the ''Bay Area'', is a region that surrounds the Galveston Bay estuary of Southeast Texas in the United States, within metropolitan area. Normally the term refers to the mainland communities around the bay and excludes Galveston as well as most of Houston. Originally part of the pirate kingdom of Jean Lafitte, this area played a role in the early history of Texas having been the site of some Anahuac disturbances, early rebellions against Mexican Texas, Mexican rule and the site of the Battle of San Jacinto, victory of the Texas army over the Mexican army during the Texas Revolution. The Harlem Globetrotters are an American exhibition basketball team. They combine athleticism, theater, and comedy in their style of play. Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets are an American professional basketball team based in Houston. The Rockets compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member team of the league's Western Conference Southwest Division. Calvin Jerome Murphy (born May 9, 1948) is an American former professional basketball player who after a prolific collegiate career at Niagara, where he averaged 33.1 points per game over his three years, played in the National Basketball Association as a guard for the San Diego/Houston Rockets from 1970 to 1983.
