Bayou (film)
''Bayou'' is a 1957 motion picture directed by Harold Daniels. The drama is set in the Louisiana bayou region. Produced by American National Films, it was also shot in Barataria Bay, Louisiana, and most of the characters are Cajun residents of a rural fishing village. ''Bayou'' features one of the few lead roles by noted character actor Timothy Carey. Plot Martin Davis, a young Yankee architect, comes to New Orleans from the North to compete against a local man for the job of designing a new civic auditorium. On a visit to a carnival in the Cajun country of southern Louisiana, Martin meets Marie, a seventeen-year-old Cajun girl who works as a crabber in the bayou in order to support herself and her partly senile, alcoholic father Herbert. Edwin Stafford Nelson (December 21, 1928 – August 9, 2014) was an American actor, best known for his role as Dr. Michael Rossi in the television series '' Peyton Place''. Nelson appeared in episodes of many TV programs, more than 50 movies, and hundreds of stage productions. Early life Nelson was raised in North Carolina after having been born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was educated at Edwards Military Institute and Camp Lejeune High School, playing football and basketball at the latter school. He began acting while attending Tulane University in New Orleans. Jonathan Haze (born Jack Schachter; April 1, 1929) is an American actor, producer and screenwriter. He is best known for his work in Roger Corman films, especially the 1960 black comedy cult classic, ''The Little Shop of Horrors'', in which he played florist's assistant Seymour Krelborn. Early years Haze is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schachter of the Squirrel Hill neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Early career Haze was working at a gas station in California when he was discovered by Wyott Ordung.
