Bayard Elfvin
Bayard Elfvin (born February 1, 1981) is a retired American soccer goalkeeper who is an assistant coach with the Northwestern University women' soccer team. Elfvin played professionally in the USL First Division and the second Major Indoor Soccer League. He was a member of the United States national beach soccer team which competed at both the 2006 and 2007 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cups. Player College Elfvin led Div. II Ashland University to its first NCAA tournament appearance in 2001. A four-year starter, Elfvin was a two-time All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) selection for the Eagles. He ended his stay as the school's career leader in shutouts (14) and goals-against-average (1.23). He had a career record of 31-12-2. In his final season at Ashland, Elfvin posted a record of 7-1-2 and allowed just eight goals, the fewest in school history. Cleveland Heights, Ohio
Cleveland Heights is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States, and one of Cleveland's historical streetcar suburbs. The city's population was 45,312 at the 2020 census. As of the 2010 census, Cleveland Heights was ranked the 8th largest city by population in the Greater Cleveland area and ranked 20th in Ohio. It was founded as a village in 1903 and a city in 1921. History The area that is now Cleveland Heights was settled later than most of Cuyahoga County. The first road through what is today the city, Mayfield Road, was not built until 1828. Some of the land was divided into farms, but It also had quarries in the 19th century. One of the early quarries was established by Duncan McFarland who mined bluestone. 2006 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup
The 2006 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup was the second edition of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, governed by FIFA. Overall, this was the 12th edition of a world cup in beach soccer since the establishment of the ''Beach Soccer World Championships'' which ran from 1995–2004 but was not governed by FIFA. It took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 2–12 November 2006. The winners of the tournament were hosts Brazil, who won their first FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup title and their tenth world title overall. Xtreme Soccer League
The Xtreme Soccer League (XSL) was an indoor soccer league that began play in December 2008. Four teams from the former Major Indoor Soccer League participated in the first XSL season: the Chicago Storm, Detroit Ignition, Milwaukee Wave, and New Jersey Ironmen. Other former MISL teams joined the National Indoor Soccer League or Professional Arena Soccer League. The XSL officially launched on 16 September 2008, with a press conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Brian Loftin was the XSL's commissioner. Each team played a 20-game schedule beginning in December and ending in late March. There were no playoffs. On 3 December 2008, the XSL announced that Brine would supply the Triumph X 600 as the official match ball. Citing economic trouble, the XSL folded in July 2009. Although the league officially called it a one-year hiatus, the league never resumed play.
