Baya (artist)
Baya Mahieddine ( ar, باية محي الدين) or Fatima Haddad ( ar, فاطمة حداد, born in Bordj El Kiffan on December 12, 1931; died November 9, 1998) was an Algerian painter, artist. While she did not self-identify as belonging to a particular Arts, art genre, critics have classified her paintings as being surrealist, primitive, naïve, and modern.Futamura, C. Wakaba. Bordj El Kiffan
Bordj El Kiffan (Arabic 'برج الكيفان') is a suburb of the city of Algiers in northern Algeria. It is in the eastern section of the city, near Matares Beach. Named Fort de l'Eau (Fr. 'Water Fortress') under French rule prior to 1962, used to be a famous beach resort within the Bay of Algiers, complete with luxury hotels and a casino. Pollution from urbanization, nearby industrialization, and untreated sewage affected the status, and the beach was no longer popular since the late 1970s. The urban location, however, preserved some of its former recreational status. ''One Thousand and One Nights'' ( ar, أَلْفُ لَيْلَةٍ وَلَيْلَةٌ, italic=yes, ) is a collection of Middle Eastern folk tales compiled in Arabic during the Islamic Golden Age. It is often known in English as the ''Arabian Nights'', from the first English-language edition (), which rendered the title as ''The Arabian Nights' Entertainment''. The work was collected over many centuries by various authors, translators, and scholars across West, Central and South Asia, and North Africa. Some tales trace their roots back to ancient and medieval Arabic, Egyptian, Sanskrit, Persian, and Mesopotamian literature. A woman is an adult female human. Prior to adulthood, a female human is referred to as a girl (a female child or adolescent).
