Barbara Angie Rose Baxley (January 1, 1923 – June 7, 1990) was an American actress and singer. Early life Barbara Baxley was born on January 1, 1923, in Porterville, California, the daughter of Emma (née Tyler) and Bert Baxley and sister to Helen Baxley. She acted for six years in productions of schools and Little Theaters before she had her first professional role. Career A life member of the Actors Studio, Baxley also studied acting under the tutelage of Sanford Meisner at the prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater in New York City. Her first film was '' East of Eden'', where she portrayed Adam Trask's obnoxious nurse at the end of the film. Bill Baxley
William Joseph Baxley II (born June 27, 1941), is an American Democratic politician and attorney from Dothan, Alabama. In 1964, Baxley graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law in Tuscaloosa. Having previously served as district attorney in Houston County, he was elected to the first of two consecutive terms as Attorney General of Alabama in 1970, and 1974 respectively, holding the post from 1971 to 1979. At the age of twenty-eight, he won the Democratic nomination for attorney general in 1970, in an upset over incumbent McDonald Gallion. Baxley, incorrectly, was perceived as the candidate closer politically to George Wallace, an impression he did not dispute throughout the election contest. At the time of his swearing-in, he was the youngest person in U.S. history to hold a state attorney generalship. Henry Willis Baxley
Henry Willis Baxley (1803 – 1876) was an American physician who helped to found the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1839. This college has been variously described as the first dental college in the United States, in the world, and in North America. Biography Baxley was born in Baltimore, Maryland, in June 1803. There, he was educated at St. Mary's College before beginning medical school at the University of Maryland, from which he received his M. D. in 1824. In 1826, he began working as an attending physician at the Baltimore General Dispensary, where he continued to work until 1829. From 1830 to 1831, he was the attending physician at the Maryland Penitentiary. He was named a demonstrator of anatomy at the University of Maryland in 1834, and replaced Eli Geddings as professor of anatomy and physiology at this institution in 1837. Both sources have publication dates prior to this time, making the information entirely questionable. His last works seem to have been published in the early 1920s was an American poet and playwright. Life and works Isaac Rieman Baxley was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1850, the son of Henry Willis Baxley and Mary Virginia Baxley. He had one brother, Claude. Although the family was not Roman Catholic, Isaac was educated at St. Ignatius de Loyola College (now Loyola University Maryland). He passed the bar before the age of twenty-one. Baxley said this was his first legal crime — but the age question was not asked of him. Like many other poets, he practised little and soon abandoned his profession because he wished to write. Andrew Jackson Baxley (July 4, 1884 – December 10, 1950) was an American character actor of the 1930s and 1940s. He appeared in over 100 films over his career, many in unnamed, un-credited roles. Occasionally he would receive small, named roles, and rarely a featured role. Life and career Born in Dallas, Texas, prior to becoming an actor Baxley worked in circuses and carnivals as a side-show barker. He made his film debut at the age of 47 in the 1930 Greta Garbo classic, ''Anna Christie'', as a barker at Coney Island. It would be a character he portrayed frequently in films. Lucy Mae Bruner Baxley Smith (December 21, 1937 – October 14, 2016) was an American politician who served from 2003 to 2007 as the List of Lieutenant Governors of Alabama, 28th lieutenant governor of Alabama and from 2009 until 2013 as President of the Alabama Public Service Commission.
