Zygmunt Bauman
Zygmunt Bauman (; 19 November 1925 – 9 January 2017) was a Polish sociologist and philosopher. He was driven out of the Polish People's Republic during the 1968 Polish political crisis and forced to give up his Polish citizenship. He emigrated to Israel; three years later he moved to the United Kingdom. He resided in England from 1971, where he studied at the London School of Economics and became Professor of Sociology at the University of Leeds, later Emeritus. Bauman was a social theorist, writing on issues as diverse as modernity and the Holocaust, postmodern consumerism and liquid modernity. Louis Sylvester Bauman (November 13, 1875 – November 8, 1950) was a Schwarzenau Brethren, Brethren minister, writer, and Bible conference speaker, holding influential leadership in the The Brethren Church, Brethren Church and the "Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches, Grace Brethren" movement which evenly divided the denomination in 1939. Nikolay Ernestovich Bauman () ( – ) was a Russian revolutionary of the Bolshevik Party. His death in a struggle with a royalist upon his release from Taganka Prison in 1905 made him one of the first martyrs of the Revolution, and later of the Soviet Union. Jon "Bowzer" Bauman (born September 14, 1947) is an American singer, best known as a member of the band Sha Na Na, and game show host. Bauman's Sha Na Na character, "Bowzer", was a greaser in a muscle shirt. Biography and career Bauman was born in Brooklyn, New York. He started attending The Juilliard School at age 12 with an expertise in piano playing, and is a 1964 graduate of Martin Van Buren High School in Queens Village, Queens. Richard Bauman is a folklorist and anthropologist, now retired from Indiana University Bloomington. He is Distinguished Professor ''emeritus'' of Folklore, of Anthropology, and of Communication and Culture. Before coming to IU in 1985, he was the Director of the Center for Intercultural Studies in Folklore and Ethnomusicology (now known as the Américo Paredes Center for Cultural Studies) at the University of Texas and a faculty member in the UT Department of Anthropology. Bauman Street (russian: улица Баумана; tt-Cyrl, Бауман урамы) is a pedestrian street in the heart of Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, Russia. It is named after Nikolay Bauman, a Russian revolutionary, and is located in the central part of the city. The street starts at the foot of the Kremlin and reaches Tukay Square, the central square in the city. Baumanskaya (Moscow Metro)
Baumanskaya (russian: Бауманская) is a station on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line of the Moscow Metro, named after the revolutionary Nikolai Bauman. It was designed by Boris Iofan and Yury Zenkevich and opened in 1944. The Art Deco design features white marble pylons with rounded corners, projecting, fluted piers faced with red ceramic tile, and decorative ventilation grilles. In the bays between each set of piers are bronze sculptures by V.A. Andreev depicting Russian soldiers and workers of the home front during World War II. At the end of the platform is a mosaic portrait of Vladimir Lenin. This station is very busy, as one of the biggest Moscow institutes (Moscow State Technical University) is located not far away. Red Letter Media, LLC is an American film and video production company operated by independent filmmakers Mike Stoklasa (formerly of GMP Pictures) and Jay Bauman (formerly of Blanc Screen Cinema). It was formed by Stoklasa in 2004 while he was living in Scottsdale, Arizona, but is currently based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It attracted significant attention in 2009 through Stoklasa's 70-minute video review of the 1999 film '' Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace''.
