Battle Of Soledar
The Battle of Soledar was a series of military engagements in and around the urban-type settlement of Soledar during the battle of Donbas in the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Russian forces began an offensive on 3 August 2022, shelling Soledar, Bakhmut, and surrounding villages to the south and east. Repeated local Russian assaults on or near Soledar continued into October, with many repelled by the Ukrainian army. By late December, much of the fighting in the region centered around Bakhmut, with Soledar seen as a satellite stronghold protecting the city's northeastern flank and supply lines. Much of the town had been reduced to ruins. Russian attacks to the town resumed in January 2023, and on 16 January Russian forces captured the last part of its industrial zone and secured control of the town. Battle Of Bakhmut
The Battle of Bakhmut is an ongoing series of military engagements in and near the city of Bakhmut between Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Russian Armed Forces during the larger battle for Donbas. Shelling of Bakhmut began in May 2022, but the main assault towards the city began on 1 August after Russian forces advanced from the Popasna direction after a Ukrainian withdrawal from that front. The main assault force primarily consists of mercenaries from the Russian paramilitary organization Wagner Group, supported by regular Russian troops and DPR and LPR separatist elements. As of late 2022, following Ukraine's Kharkiv and Kherson counteroffensives, the Bakhmut-Soledar front became an important focus of the war, being one of the few front lines in Ukraine where Russia remained on the offensive. Soledar Salt Mine
The Soledar Salt Mines (also called Artemsil Salt Mines after the State Enterprise Association Artemsil that operates the mines) are located in the city/suburb of Soledar in the Bakhmut municipality in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. The scale of the mines is vast, with of tunnels at a depth of , and many of the chambers are in height. The largest resembles a hangar of about length and width and height, and has accommodated soccer matches and the inflation of a hot air balloon. The temperature underground is constant at 14–15 °C, with 14.93 PSI air pressure and 60% humidity regardless of the time of the year, giving rise to claims of healing properties for lung conditions. Kostiantynivka ( uk, Костянтинівка, ; russian: Константиновка) is an industrial city in the Donetsk Oblast (province) of eastern Ukraine, on the river. Administratively, it is incorporated as a city of oblast significance. It also serves as the administrative center of Kostiantynivka Raion (district), though it does not belong to it. Siversk ( uk, Сі́верськ, ; rus, Се́верск, r=Seversk; until 1973: Yama ́ма; Я́ма is a city in Bakhmut Raion of Donetsk Oblast (province) of Ukraine situated 99 km north of Donetsk. The War in Donbas, russian: Война на Донбассе was an armed conflict in the Donbas region of Ukraine, part of the broader Russo-Ukrainian War.
