Battle Of Karlivka
The Battle of Karlivka was a series of military engagements in eastern Ukraine for control of the village of Karlivka, Donetsk Oblast, Karlivka in Donetsk Oblast. Geographic Location The village of Karlivka is located 28 kilometers west of Donetsk and was considered the "western gate" of the capital of the Donetsk People's Republic, DPR, so control over this village was important for the militia. The Karlovskoye reservoir was a reserve source of fresh water for Donetsk. The Russian people's militias in Ukraine, militia of the Donetsk People's Republic had information about plans to mine the dam of the reservoir by sabotage groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A highway of republican significance passed by the village, which was a direct road from Donetsk to Dnipropetrovsk and further to Kyiv. The War in Donbas, russian: Война на Донбассе was an armed conflict in the Donbas region of Ukraine, part of the broader Russo-Ukrainian War. In March 2014, immediately following the Euromaidan protest movement and subsequent Revolution of Dignity, protests by pro-Russian, anti-government separatist groups arose in the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts of Ukraine, collectively called the Donbas. These demonstrations began around the same time as Russia's annexation of Crimea, and were part of wider pro-Russian protests across southern and eastern Ukraine. Declaring the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR, respectively), armed Russian-backed separatist groups seized government buildings throughout the Donbas, leading to armed conflict with Ukrainian government forces. Karlivka ( uk, Карлівка; russian: Карловка, ) is a village in Marinka Raion of Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine. BM-21 Grad
The BM-21 "Grad" (russian: БМ-21 "Град", lit= hail) is a self-propelled 122 mm multiple rocket launcher designed in the Soviet Union. The system and the M-21OF rocket were first developed in the early 1960s, and saw their first combat use in March 1969 during the Sino-Soviet border conflict. ''BM'' stands for ''boyevaya mashina'' ( ru , боевая машина – combat vehicle), and the nickname means "hail". The complete system with the BM-21 launch vehicle and the M-21OF rocket is designated as the M-21 field-rocket system. The complete system is more commonly known as a Grad multiple rocket launcher system. The 122-mm howitzer D-30 (GRAU index 2A18) is a Soviet howitzer that first entered service in 1960. Horlivka
Horlivka ( , ; uk, Го́рлівка ), or Gorlovka (russian: link=no, Горловка ), is a city of regional significance in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine.
