Batman Soundtrack
''Batman'' is the eleventh studio album by American recording artist Prince and the soundtrack album to the 1989 film ''Batman''. It was released on June 20, 1989, by Warner Bros. Records. As a Warner Bros. stablemate, Prince's involvement in the soundtrack was designed to leverage the media company's contract bound talent as well as fulfill the artist's need for a commercial revival. The result was yet another multi platinum successful cross media enterprise by Warner Bros., in the vein of '' Purple Rain''. The album stayed at number one on the ''Billboard'' 200 for six consecutive weeks, being his first number one album since ''Around the World in a Day'', while its lead single, "Batdance", became his first number one song since "Kiss". It is certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The Arms Of Orion
"The Arms of Orion" is a 1989 song by Prince and Sheena Easton. It was the third single to be taken from Prince's 1989 ''Batman Batman is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, and debuted in Detective Comics 27, the 27th issue of the comic book ''Detective Comics'' on ...'' soundtrack album. It was a #36 pop hit for them on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 1989. Background The song is a slow, romantic ballad that is accompanied mainly by the piano. Synthesizers also play a strong role throughout the song, programmed to emulate a string section. The track also uses a subdued drum machine loop, and samples of rain and thunder. The lyrics allude to the constellation of Orion. Anna Garcia (born December 31, 1970) is professionally known as Anna Fantastic, a name given to her by Prince (musician), Prince. She is an English actress, singer and model. Early life Born in London, England in 1970 to parents of Sicily#People, Sicilian, British and American ancestry, Fantastic spent her younger years in London and the Netherlands. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is a trade organization that represents the music recording industry in the United States. Released by the Paisley Park label as the lead single from Prince and the Revolution's eighth studio album, ''Parade'' (1986), on February 5, 1986, it was a No. 1 hit worldwide, holding the top spot of the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart for two weeks. ''Around the World in a Day'' is the seventh studio album by American recording artist Prince, and the second release where his backing band The Revolution is billed. It was released on April 22, 1985, by Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. Records. Departing somewhat from the commercial sound of his previous release, the massively successful '' Purple Rain'' (1984), the album instead saw Prince experimenting with psychedelic styles and more opulent textures. In compliance with Prince's wishes, the record company released the album with minimal publicity, withholding accompanying singles until almost a month after the album's release. ''Purple Rain'' is a 1984 American rock musical drama film scored by and starring Prince in his acting debut. Developed to showcase his talents, it contains several concert sequences, featuring Prince and his band The Revolution. The film is directed by Albert Magnoli, who later became Prince's manager, from a screenplay by Magnoli and William Blinn. The cast also features Apollonia Kotero, Morris Day, Olga Karlatos and Clarence Williams III. Principal photography took place almost entirely in Minneapolis: the film features many local landmarks, including the Crystal Court of the IDS Center and the First Avenue nightclub, which was paid $100,000 for the club being used during filming; it was closed for 25 days.
