Bathurst () is a city in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia. Bathurst is about 200 kilometres (120 mi) west-northwest of Sydney and is the seat of the Bathurst Regional Council. Cape Bathurst (Inuit: ''Awaq'') is a cape and a peninsula located on the northern coast of the Northwest Territories in Canada. Cape Bathurst is the northernmost point of mainland Northwest Territories and one of the few peninsulas in mainland North America protruding above the 70th parallel north. The first European to see the area was John Richardson, who also named it, in 1826. Some coast areas of Cape Bathurst are being eroded at a rate of a year. Baillie Island is located just off the coast of Cape Bathurst, separated from the peninsula by a shallow strait. A notable nearby formation is Smoking Hills, a group of hills exhibiting continuous burning of oil shale deposits. A rare endemic plant known as hairy rockcress or hairy braya (''Braya pilosa'', genus Braya of family Brassicaceae) is known to grow in five locations on Cape Bathurst as well as the nearby Baillie Islands. Bathurst-class Corvette
The ''Bathurst''-class corvettes were a class of general purpose vessels designed and built in Australia during World War II. Originally classified as minesweepers, but widely referred to as corvettes, the ''Bathurst''-class vessels fulfilled a broad anti-submarine, anti-mine, and convoy escort role. A total of 60 ''Bathurst''-class corvettes were built, at eight Australian shipyards: 36 were paid for by the Australian government and 24 were built on British Admiralty orders. Of these UK-owned vessels, 20 were officially commissioned into the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), and manned by RAN personnel, while four served in the Royal Indian Navy; none of the UK-owned vessels was commissioned into the Royal Navy. Many artefacts have been found in the gravel around what is now the airport, and the Colne Valley. Waste pits filled with struck flint, arrowheads and fragments of pottery were also found in the area, indicating a settlement, though none other remains of such a settlement. Until about 1930, there was only one building (part of Bath Road Farm) on the north side of Bath Road between The Magpies (an area around and opposite the north exit of the recent Heathrow Road), and Longford; other buildings were built afterwards there before World War II, including three factories (Technicolor and Penguin Books and Black+Decker). Bathurst, Eastern Cape
Bathurst is about inland from Port Alfred, on the R67 road, in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, and is named after Henry Bathurst, 3rd Earl Bathurst, Secretary of State for the Colonies by Sir Rufane Donkin. Its chief claim to fame is that it was the early administrative centre established by the British Government for the 1820 British Settlers who were sent to the district as a buffer between the Cape Colony and the Xhosa pastoralists who were migrating southwards and westwards along the coast. Bathurst is now part of the Ndlambe Local Municipality in the Sarah Baartman District Municipality of the Eastern Cape. Bathurst Street Bridge
The Sir Isaac Brock Bridge is a steel Warren truss bridge in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It lies along Bathurst Street over the railway tracks between Front Street and Fort York Boulevard. The bridge carries four lanes for motor vehicles with the centre lanes containing the streetcar tracks of the Toronto Transit Commission's 511 Bathurst streetcar route. The Bridge was formerly named The ''Bathurst Street Bridge'' before changing names and being named after Isaac Brock. The steel truss bridge was built in 1903 and used for the Great Western Railway over the Humber River (northside of then Lakeshore Road at mouth of the river). It was dis-assembled and re-located in 1916 to Bathurst Street and converted for road traffic. The bridge served to connect Bathurst Street at Front Street to Fort York. Bathurst is a subway station on Line 2 Bloor–Danforth in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The station, which opened in 1966, is located on Bathurst Street just north of Bloor Street West. It is a major transfer point for both bus and streetcar routes, including the 511 Bathurst route, which provides services to Exhibition Place. Wi-Fi service is available at this station. The main entrance at Bathurst and Bloor, where the ticket collectors and turnstiles are located, is in the station building at the surface, which puts the station's streetcar and bus platforms within the fare paid zone. The opening of elevators in January 2000 made the station fully accessible. The elevators provide access between the eastbound platform and concourse, and between the westbound platform and street level via the concourse.
