Batch (album)
''Batch'' is the second album by Orange County pop punk band Big Drill Car. It was released in 1991. It was the last studio recording with the original line-up, and their last album distributed by Cruz Records. Like many Big Drill Car albums, ''Batch'' is currently out of print. Critical reception ''Trouser Press'' wrote that "''Batch'' upholds the group’s stylistic consistency: riffs, tunes and punchy rhythms collide in an enjoyable blend of big rock, vampy thrashfunk and nicely detailed pop that hardly belongs on a punk-rooted indie label." An album is a collection of audio recordings issued on compact disc (CD), Phonograph record, vinyl, audio tape, or another medium such as Digital distribution#Music, digital distribution. AllMusic (previously known as All Music Guide and AMG) is an American online music database. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Initiated in 1991, the database was first made available on the Internet in 1994. AllMusic is owned by RhythmOne. History AllMusic was launched as ''All Music Guide'' by Michael Erlewine, a "compulsive archivist, noted astrologer, Buddhist scholar and musician". He became interested in using computers for his astrological work in the mid-1970s and founded a software company, Matrix, in 1977. In the early 1990s, as CDs replaced LPs as the dominant format for recorded music, Erlewine purchased what he thought was a CD of early recordings by Little Richard. ''Trouser Press'' was a rock and roll magazine started in New York in 1974 as a mimeographed fanzine by editor/publisher Ira Robbins, fellow fan of the Who Dave Schulps and Karen Rose under the name "Trans-Oceanic Trouser Press" (a reference to a song by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and an acronymic play on the British TV show ''Top of the Pops)''. The concert was recorded live at New York's CBGB's on September 3, 1991, at the beginning of a nineteen-week tour known as ''The Batch World Tour'', in support of the then-current album ''Batch'', but wasn't released until two years later. This was the last recording featuring the classic original line-up of Frank Daly, Mark Arnold, Danny Marcroft and Bob Thompson. Big Drill Car
Big Drill Car is a punk rock group from Costa Mesa, California, formed in 1987. While the group never gained a mainstream audience, they provided an influence on their contemporaries – most notably ALL, Chemical People and Dag Nasty – alongside they are considered early pioneers of melodic hardcore. Big Drill Car released an EP, ''Small Block'', in 1988 before being signed to Cruz Records (owned by former Black Flag guitarist Greg Ginn) and releasing two studio albums. The band eventually parted ways with that label and signed to Headhunter Records, who released '' No Worse for the Wear'', the band's last album to date. Big Drill Car broke up in 1995, but reunited for a one-off series of shows in 2008 and 2009, with the classic original lineup. ''CD Type Thing'' is the first album by Huntington Beach punk band Big Drill Car, released in 1989. Many consider this album to be a classic of the late '80s hardcore punk scene, and the peak of Big Drill Car's career. The title of the album changed with the format it was presented on: the compact disc version was entitled ''CD Type Thing'', the vinyl format was called ''Album Type Thing'', and the audio cassette version was called ''Tape Type Thing''. Bill Stevenson (musician)
John William Stevenson (born September 10, 1963) is an American musician and record producer. He is the drummer, main songwriter, and the only constant member of the California punk rock group Descendents since its inception. In late December 1981, he played a few concerts with the hardcore punk band Black Flag because their drummer ROBO was detained in England after a tour there. He went on to record with Black Flag on several of their albums until 1985, including the highly influential ''My War''. After this he focused his attention on Descendents and played with the band until lead singer Milo Aukerman left in 1987. After Milo's departure, Bill and the other members of Descendents, Karl Alvarez and Stephen Egerton, recruited singer Dave Smalley of Dag Nasty, moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, and formed All.
