Kisilyakh Range
The Kisilyakh Range ( rus, Кисиляхский хребет; sah, Киһилээх) is a mountain range in the Sakha Republic, Far Eastern Federal District, Russia. Batagaika Crater
The Batagaika crater is a thermokarst depression in the Chersky Range area. The biggest permafrost crater in the world, it administratively belongs to the Sakha Republic, Russia, and is in its Verkhoyansky District. Description The depression is in the form of a one-kilometre-long gash up to 100 metres (328 feet) deep, and growing, in the East Siberian taiga, located southeast of Batagay and northeast of the settlement Ese-Khayya, about north-northeast of the capital Yakutsk. The structure is named after the near-flowing Batagayka, a right tributary of the river Yana. The land began to sink due to the thawing permafrost in the 1960s after the surrounding forest was cleared. Flooding also contributed to the enlargement of the crater. Paleontologists have found Ice Age fossils buried in the mud around the rim of the crater. Yana River
The Yana ( rus, Я́на, p=ˈjanə; sah, Дьааҥы, ''Caañı'') is a river in Sakha in Russia, located between the Lena to the west and the Indigirka to the east. Course It is long, and its drainage basin covers . Including its longest source river, the Sartang, it is long. Its annual discharge totals approximately . Most of this discharge occurs in May and June as the ice on the river breaks up. The Yana freezes up on the surface in October and stays under the ice until late May or early June. In the Verkhoyansk area, it stays frozen to the bottom for 70 to 110 days, and partly frozen for 220 days of the year. The river begins at the confluence of the rivers Sartang and Dulgalakh in the Yana-Oymyakon Highlands. It flows north across the vast Yana-Indigirka Lowland, part of the greater East Siberian Lowland, shared with the Indigirka to the east. Adycha
The Adycha (russian: Адыча; sah, Адыаччы) is a river in the Republic of Sakha in Russia. It is a right hand tributary of the Yana, and is long, with a drainage basin of . At the end of the Soviet period, a big dam with a hydroelectric station was planned to be built on the river, but following perestroika and economic difficulties in the country the project was given up. Course The river begins in the western flank of the Chersky Range at an elevation of . It heads roughly north and northwest across a wide river valley where taiga and forest tundra predominate, bending around the northern end of the Tirekhtyakh Range.
