Bastard Of The Blues
''Bastard Of The Blues'' is the thirteenth studio album by Canadian band Helix, released May 5, 2014. Reception Reception of the album has been mostly positive. BraveWords gave it a positive review, stating that "Although Bastard Of The Blues has its faults, Vollmer & Co. continue to crank out new tunes after 40 years." The online magazine My Global Mind gave it a decent review, mentioning that it's "rather flat and lacking much to keep the listener interested. And the songs are somewhat redundant, each having the same basic vibe." Despite being inconsistent and lacking a punch, they did praise vocalist Brian Vollmer's voice as "perfectly suited for this kind of sound", and lead guitarist Brent Doerner's solos were "top-notch." Track listing Personnel ;Helix * Brian Vollmer Brian Vollmer (born June 30, 1955) is the lead singer and only remaining original member of Canadian hard rock group Helix. Helix (band)
Helix is a Canadian hard rock and heavy metal band. They formed in 1974, and are best known for their 1984 single "Rock You". The original lineup was formed by drummer Bruce Arnold, and consisted of lead vocalist Brian Vollmer, guitarists Ron Watson and Rick "Minstrel" Trembley, keyboardist Don Simmons, and bassist Keith "Bert" Zurbrigg. However, their most well known lineup, and the one that recorded "Rock You", was the 1980s version of the band: Vollmer on vocals, accompanied by guitarists Brent "The Doctor" Doerner and Paul Hackman, bassist Daryl Gray, and drummer Greg "Fritz" Hinz. The history of the band has been marked by many lineup changes, with Vollmer being the sole constant member and only remaining member of the original lineup. Although Hackman was killed in a tour bus accident in 1992, the surviving members of the 1980s lineup reunited in 2009 for an album and have continued to tour since 2011. Watson died in 2019. Simmons died in 2021. Helix have toured with ban ...

Hard Rock
Hard rock or heavy rock is a loosely defined subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and distorted electric guitars. Hard rock began in the mid-1960s with the garage, psychedelic and blues rock movements. Some of the earliest hard rock music was produced by the Kinks, the Who, The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Cream, Vanilla Fudge, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. In the late 1960s, bands such as Blue Cheer, the Jeff Beck Group, Iron Butterfly, Led Zeppelin, Golden Earring, Steppenwolf and Deep Purple also produced hard rock. The genre developed into a major form of popular music in the 1970s, with the Who, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple being joined by Queen, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Kiss, and Van Halen. During the 1980s, some hard rock bands moved away from their hard rock roots and more towards pop rock.V. Bogdanov, C. Woodstra and S. T. Blues
Blues is a music genre and musical form which originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s. Blues incorporated spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts, chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads from the African-American culture. The blues form is ubiquitous in jazz, rhythm and blues, and rock and roll, and is characterized by the call-and-response pattern (the blues scale and specific chord progressions) of which the twelve-bar blues is the most common. Blue notes (or "worried notes"), usually thirds, fifths or sevenths flattened in pitch, are also an essential part of the sound. Blues shuffles or walking bass reinforce the trance-like rhythm and form a repetitive effect known as the groove. Blues as a genre is also characterized by its lyrics, bass lines, and instrumentation. Early traditional blues verses consisted of a single line repeated four times. It was only in the first decades of the 20th century that the most common current str ...

Perris Records
Perris Records is an American record label that focuses on heavy metal and all its less-known categories, such as glam rock, hair metal, sleaze rock and hard rock in general. History Perris Records was founded by rock musician Tom Mathers in Houston (Texas, USA) in the early 1990s. With his hard rock band Cherry St. signed with JRS/BMG to release "Squeeze It Dry". JRS records had The Stray Cats and Asia on their roster. After the band broke up he decided in 1993 to found his own music label. A number of well-known rock bands, who survived the crisis period of the early 1990s, caused by the shift in musical taste from hard rock to grunge, gradually started to work with Perris Records. At the start of the new millennium, this publishing house drew in a new generation of hard rock bands and musicians. Perris Records has thus become a specific record label of this minority musical style and of its fans around the world, from the late 90s to the present day. In 2005 Perris Record ...

Helix (band) Albums
A helix () is a shape like a corkscrew or spiral staircase. It is a type of smooth space curve with tangent lines at a constant angle to a fixed axis. Helices are important in biology, as the DNA molecule is formed as two intertwined helices, and many proteins have helical substructures, known as alpha helices. The word ''helix'' comes from the Greek word ''ἕλιξ'', "twisted, curved". A "filled-in" helix – for example, a "spiral" (helical) ramp – is a surface called ''helicoid''. Properties and types The ''pitch'' of a helix is the height of one complete helix turn, measured parallel to the axis of the helix. A double helix consists of two (typically congruent) helices with the same axis, differing by a translation along the axis. A circular helix (i.e. one with constant radius) has constant band curvature and constant torsion. A ''conic helix'', also known as a ''conic spiral'', may be defined as a spiral on a conic surface, with the distance to the apex an expo ...
