Club Deportivo Saski-Baskonia, S.A.D., commonly known as Saski Baskonia (), also known as Cazoo Baskonia for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball team that is based in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. The Liga ACB, known as Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system. Administrated by the Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto (ACB), Liga ACB is contested by 18 teams, with the two lowest-placed teams relegated to the LEB Oro and replaced by the top team in that division plus the winner of the promotion playoffs. The competition was founded as the ACB Primera División on 1983 following the decision of clubs in the Liga Nacional, founded in 1957, to break away from the Spanish Basketball Federation and professionalize the league. Joan Peñarroya
Joan Peñarroya Rodríguez (born 20 April 1969) is a Spanish retired basketball player and current head coach of Baskonia of the Spanish Liga ACB. Coaching career Peñarroya started his coaching career as assistant coach with CB Olesa of the Liga EBA. In 2010, he signed with BC Andorra of the LEB Plata. Peñarroya led the team to a promotion to the LEB Oro and later to the Liga ACB. He also coached in the EuroCup with Andorra. In the 2018–19 season, Peñarroya coached Bàsquet Manresa, leading the team to the ACB playoffs for the first time since 1998. In July 2019, Peñarroya signed as new head coach of San Pablo Burgos. The Liga Española de Baloncesto (English: Spanish Basketball League), whose top division was known as Primera División (English: First Division), was the old 1st Tier level basketball league in Spain, from 1957 to the 1982–83 season. Sociedad anónima deportiva ("Public limited sports company") is a special type of public limited company in Spain. Pablo Laso Biurrun (born October 13, 1967) is a Spanish professional basketball coach and former player. He was the head coach of Real Madrid for eleven seasons from 2011 to 2022, guiding them to two EuroLeague championships and six Liga ACB titles. As a player, he was a prominent point guard in Spain and Italy.
