Basketball At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's 3x3 Tournament
The 2020 Summer Olympics men's 3x3 basketball tournament in Tokyo, began on 24 and ended on 28 July 2021. All games were played at the Aomi Urban Sports Park. It was originally scheduled to be held in 2020, but on 24 March 2020, the Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of this pandemic, the games were played behind closed doors. Latvia won the title after defeating the Russian Olympic Committee team in the final, while Serbia captured the bronze medal over Belgium. The medals for the competition were presented by Nenad Lalović, Serbia; IOC Executive Board Member, and the medalists' bouquets were presented by Andreas Zagklis, Greece; FIBA Secretary General. Format The eight teams played a round robin. The teams placed first and second in group qualified for the semi-finals. The teams three to six played a playoff. After that, a knockout system was used. Jessey Voorn (born 17 March 1990 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch professional basketball player who last played for Heroes Den Bosch. Voorn is 6 ft 4 tall and plays the shooting guard position. Professional career Voorn started his professional career with ABC Amsterdam in 2007, where he was mainly on the bench at first. With Amsterdam he won the Dutch championship in 2009. Arvin Slagter (born 19 September 1985) is a Dutch basketball player who plays for the Netherlands men's national 3x3 team. Slagter also played for several other Dutch 5vs5 teams in his career, including Rotterdam, Bergen op Zoom, Leiden and Groningen. Dimeo van der Horst (born 23 June 1991) is a Dutch 3x3 basketball player who plays for the Netherlands men's national 3x3 team. Standing at 1.95 m (6 ft 5 in), Van der Horst primarily plays as point guard. Born in Amsterdam, he played 11 seasons of professional basketball in the Dutch Basketball League for four different clubs. Ross Bekkering (born August 19, 1987) is a former Canadian-Dutch professional basketball player. Bekkering played in the Dutch Basketball League. Bekkering is the younger brother of Henry Bekkering, who was a professional basketball player as well. He played collegiately for Calgary, where he played five years.
