Basketball At The 1995 Southeast Asian Games
Basketball at the 1995 Southeast Asian Games was held from 10 to 16 October 1997 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This edition featured both tournaments for men's and women's team. All matches were held in 700th Anniversary Sport Complex Gymnasium 2. The were able to defend their title by defeating the hosts in their third consecutive Finals match-up, 108–89, for their third consecutive title since 1991 and their ninth overall title. Meanwhile, snatched the bronze from the last edition's bronze medallists in the battle for third place. In the women's event, notched their fifth consecutive championship by defeating last edition's bronze medallists in their first ever championship match, 91–53. 1995 Southeast Asian Games
The 1995 Southeast Asian Games ( th, กีฬาแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ 1995, Kila haeng echeiy tawan oak cheing tai 1995), officially known as the 18th Southeast Asian Games, was a Southeast Asian multi-sport event held in Chiang Mai, Thailand from 9 to 17 December 1995. It was the first time that a non-capital city hosted the biennial sports event. Chiang Mai is the second Thai city to host the Southeast Asian Games after Bangkok. The games were opened and closed by Vajiralongkorn, the then-Crown Prince of Thailand. With the return of Cambodia, all ten members of the federation were present to compete in the SEA Games for the first time. This was the fifth time that Thailand hosts the games. 700th Anniversary Stadium
The 700th Anniversary of Chiang Mai Stadium ( th, สนามเชียงใหม่ 700 ปี) is a multi-purpose stadium in Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand, built to host the 1995 Southeast Asian Games and to commemorate the 700th anniversary of Chiang Mai's establishment at the same time. It was also used for the 1998 Asian Games. Football side Chiangmai F.C. returned to the stadium for the 2009 season, having used a municipal stadium elsewhere in the city in recent years. Basketball at the 1997 Southeast Asian Games was held from 12 to 18 October 1997 in Senayan, Central Jakarta, Indonesia. This edition featured both tournaments for men's and women's team. All matches were held in Senayan Basketball Sports Hall. The Philippines were able to defend their title by defeating their round robin dementors and last edition's bronze medallists Malaysia in the championship match, 96–86, for their fourth consecutive title since 1991 and their 10th overall title. Meanwhile, last edition's silver medallists Thailand was relegated to third place after besting the hosts Indonesia, 68–57. In the women's event, Malaysia reclaimed the championship by defeating the defending champions Thailand, 67–58 for their ninth overall title. The Philippines have dominated the men's events since the sport was played, winning 18 of the 21 events. Malaysia won 13 of the 20 women's events. Starting in 2019, the 3x3 version of the game was played, in addition to the usual 5-on-5 full strength teams.
