The Central American and Caribbean Games (CAC or CACGs) are a multi-sport regional championship event, held quadrennial (once every four years), typically in the middle (even) year between Summer Olympics. The games are for countries in Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico, and the South American Caribbean countries of Colombia, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela. The games are overseen by Centro Caribe Sports (''formerly CACSO''). They are designed to provide a step between sub-CACG-region Games held the first year following a Summer Olympics (e.g. Central American Games) and the Continental Championships, the Pan American Games, held the year before the Summer Olympics. Germán Rieckehoff
Germán Rieckehoff (February 5, 1915 – September 2, 1997) was a Nationalist and later President of Puerto Rican Olympic Committee. Early years Rieckehoff (birth name: Germán Rieckehoff Sampayo) was born in Vieques, Puerto Rico. He was raised in a smallholding, homestead owned by his parents. His parents, who were descendants of German immigration to Puerto Rico, German immigrants who settled in the island, were poor farmers (Jíbaro (Puerto Rico), Jíbaros) who provided him with his basic needs and a good education. A relative, Carlos Vélez Rieckehoff, was an important leader of the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party and he followed the cause of independence himself. Rieckehoff was an athletic youth and when young he was an expert human swimming, swimmer.
