Basic Shape
Basic Shape were an Australian indie, pop and folk band, which formed in 2002 by founding mainstays Mickey Carney on guitar and backing vocals and Garry Eeman on lead vocals and guitar. They issued their deubt album, ''Boat Without a Sail'', in April 2008. Since mid-2010 they have not performed publicly. History Basic Shape were centred on the song-writing partnership of Mickey Carney and Garry Eeman. The indie folk-rock band were formed in September 2002 in Melbourne when Eeman was offered a gig slot at local music venue Bar Open.The Post, Newcastle, 30 January 2008 Eeman invited friends from Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE (NMIT) music program to play the show with him, which became the group's initial line-up. MGM Distribution
MGM Distribution (Metropolitan Groove Merchants) is the largest independent distributor of Australian music and music related merchandise and was established in April 1998 by Sebastian Chase. MGM Distribution was specifically set up as a distribution hub to service independent labels and artists. MGM Distribution is totally focused on a specific agenda - dealing with retail, promoting its releases to retail, ensuring that orders are filled correctly and dispatched expediently. MGM is not a label and does not sign artists. MGM as a distributor requires that the labels market their releases to the media to create demands that causes sell through at retail. Melbourne Polytechnic, formerly NMIT, is an institute of higher education and vocational education (TAFE) located in Melbourne, Australia that has been operating since around 1910. Triple J (stylised in all lowercase) is a government-funded, national Australian radio station intended to appeal to listeners of alternative music, which began broadcasting in January 1975. The station also places a greater emphasis on broadcasting Australian content compared to commercial stations. Triple J is a division of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is the national broadcaster of Australia. ABC Tasmania
ABT is a television station operated by the publicly-owned Australian Broadcasting Corporation, with a transmission area covering southern Tasmania. ABT began broadcasting on VHF channel 2 on 4 June 1960, with studios in inner-city Hobart and transmitter at Mount Wellington. The Killjoys were an Australian pop, folk band formed in 1987. The mainstay members were Anna Burley on lead vocals and guitar and Craig Pilkington on lead guitar and vocals. The Guild League
The Guild League was an Australian indie pop band which included material from rap style ("Siamese Couplets") to ''a cappella'' works. It was led by Tali White on lead vocals (of the Lucksmiths), initially as a side project, from 2001. The band released three albums ''Private Transport'' (2002), '' Inner North'' (2004) and ''Speak Up'' (2008). In 2012, the group disbanded but occasionally reformed for one-off performances.
