Bashu, The Little Stranger
''Bashu, the Little Stranger'' ( fa, باشو غریبه کوچک, translit=Bashu, Gharibeye Koochak), is a 1986 Iranian drama film directed by Bahram Beizai. The film was produced in 1986, and was released in 1989. This multi-ethnic film was the first Iranian film to make use Gilaki, a northern language of Iran, in a serious context rather than comic relief. Susan Taslimi playing the main character, Naii, is a Gilak herself. The cast included Farrokhlagha Houshmand (playing the sister in law). Bahram Beizai
Bahrām Beyzāêi (also spelt Beizāi, Beyzāêi, fa, بهرام بیضائی; born 26 December 1938) is an Iranian playwright, theatre director, screenwriter, film editor, and '' ostād'' ("master") of Persian letters, arts and Iranian studies. Beyzaie is the son of the poet Ne'matallah Beyzai (best known by his literary pseudonym "Zokā'i"). The celebrated poet Adib Beyzai, known as one of the most profound poets of 20th-century Iran, is Bahram's paternal uncle. Bahram Beyzaie's paternal grandfather, Mirzā Mohammad-Rezā Ārāni ("Ebn Ruh"), and paternal great-grandfather, the mulla Mohammad-Faqih Ārāni ("Ruh'ol-Amin"), were also notable poets. In spite of his somewhat belated start in cinema, Beyzai is often considered a pioneer of a generation of filmmakers whose works are sometimes described as the Iranian New Wave. Gilaks
Gilaks (Gileki: گیلک) are an Iranian ethnic group native to the south of Caspian sea. They form one of the main ethnic groups residing in the northern parts of Iran. Gilak people, along with the closely related Mazandarani people, comprise part of the Caspian people, who inhabit the southern and southwestern coastal regions of the Caspian Sea. Parviz Poorhosseini ( fa, پرویز پورحسینی, 11 September 1941 – 27 November 2020) was an Iranian film, theater and television actor. Biography He was best known for his roles in ''Bashu, the Little Stranger'' (1989), '' The Fifth Season'' (1997) and ''Saint Mary'' (1997). Other well-known films he had performed in include ''The Man Who Became a Mouse'' (1985), ''The Night it Happened'' (1988), ''Angel Day'' (1993), and ''Leila's Sleep'' (2007). He graduated with a bachelor's degree in performance arts from Tehran University's Faculty of Fine Arts. In 1961, with director Hamid Samandarian, he and other artists formed an acting troupe named Pasargad. Since then, Poorhosseini had appeared in more than 35 movies, over 70 TV shows and 60 theater performances. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental and behavioral disorder that can develop because of exposure to a traumatic event, such as sexual assault, warfare, traffic collisions, child abuse, domestic violence, or other threats on a person's life.
