Bashkim Jashari
Bashkim Jashari (born November 15, 1977) is a Kosovan Albanian three-star general, who has served as the Commander in Chief of the Kosovo Security Force since 30 November 2021. He is also concurrently a member of the Security Council of Kosovo. Biography Bashkim Jashari was born on November 15, 1977, in the ''Prekaz i Poshtëm'' village in the Skenderaj municipality in Kosovo. The nephew of Adem Jashari. Like the entire Jashari family, Bashkim Jashari descends from the Kuçi tribe (''fis''). , Bashkim Jashari joined the ranks of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) in early 1998. On March 5–7, 1998, the Jashari family compound was attacked by the Special Anti-Terrorism Unit of Serbia, with the goal of eliminating KLA suspects and their families. Jashari was one of the two survivors of the massacre, along his cousin Besarta Jashari. Drenica
Drenica ( al, Drenicë, Drenica, ), also known as the Drenica Valley, is a hilly region in central Kosovo, covering roughly around of Kosovo's total area (6%). It consists of two municipalities, Drenas and Skenderaj, and several villages in Klina, Zubin Potok, Mitrovica and Vushtrri. It is located west of the capital, Pristina. According to the 2011 Census, the population of the region is 109,389, excluding the surrounding villages. Albanians form the absolute majority of the region. Attack On Prekaz
The Attack on Prekaz, also known as the Prekaz massacre, was an operation led by the Special Anti-Terrorism Unit of Serbia on 5 March 1998, to capture Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) fighters deemed terrorists by Serbia. During the operation, KLA leader Adem Jashari and his brother Hamëz were killed, along with nearly 60 other family members. The attack was criticized by Amnesty International, which wrote in its report that: "all evidence suggests that the attack was not intended to apprehend armed Albanians, but to eliminate the suspects and their families." Serbia, on the other hand, claimed the raid was due to KLA attacks on police outposts. Kuči (tribe)
Kuči ( cyrl, Кучи, alternatively, Kuçi in Albanian; ) is a historical tribe (''pleme'') of Albanian origin and a region in central and eastern Montenegro, north-east of Podgorica, extending along the border with Albania. Its historical center is the village of Medun. The name "Kuči" first appears in historical record in 1330 in an anthroponym from an Albanian katun which was under the juridiction of the Dečani Monastery. The region itself is first mentioned in 1485 as a nahiyah of the Sandjak of Shkodra. Over time, several waves of settlers came to populate the region and form the historical community of Kuči. Adem Jashari
Adem Jashari (born Fazli Jashari; 28 November 1955 – 7 March 1998) was one of the founders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), a Kosovo Albanian separatist militia which fought for the secession of Kosovo from the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia during the 1990s. Beginning in 1991, Jashari participated in attacks against the Serbian police before travelling to Albania to receive military training. Arrested in 1993, he was released at the behest of the Albanian Army and later returned to Kosovo, where he continued launching attacks against the Yugoslav establishment. In July 1997, he was convicted of terrorism ''in absentia'' by a Yugoslav court. After several unsuccessful attempts to capture or kill him, Serbian police launched an attack against Jashari's home in Prekaz in March 1998.
