The following contains the team squads for the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics. Canada The roster for the Canada national baseball team was as follows. *Manager: Terry Puhl, Greg Hamilton. *Coaches: Denis Boucher (Pitching coach), Rob Ducey. Pete Orr was originally named to the team, but pulled out when he was called up to the major league roster of the Washington Nationals. He was replaced by 22-year-old Emmanuel Garcia. 2008 Summer Olympics
The 2008 Summer Olympics (), officially the Games of the XXIX Olympiad () and also known as Beijing 2008 (), were an international multisport event held from 8 to 24 August 2008, in Beijing, China. A total of 10,942 athletes from 204 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) competed in 28 sports and 302 events, one event more than those scheduled for the 2004 Summer Olympics. This was the first time China had hosted the Olympic Games, and the third time the Summer Olympic Games had been held in East Asia, following the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, and the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. Mike Johnson (Canadian Baseball Player)
Michael Keith Johnson (born October 3, 1975) is a Canadian former professional baseball pitcher who pitched all or part of five seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), and also played in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), KBO League, and the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). Career Johnson was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 1993 Major League Baseball draft, then made his MLB debut on April 6, 1997 with the Baltimore Orioles going on to play for the Orioles (1997) and Montreal Expos (1997–2001). He was a member of the Team Canada baseball team at the 2004 Summer Olympics, where they finished in fourth place in the tournament. Johnson played in the Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Dodgers, and San Francisco Giants organizations from 2001 through 2003, before signing with the Expos again in 2004. Stubby Clapp
Richard Keith "Stubby" Clapp (born February 24, 1973) is a Canadian professional baseball coach and former second baseman, left fielder, and Triple-A manager who is the first base coach for the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played for 11 years, most notably within the St. Louis Cardinals organization, including a brief stint in MLB with the Cardinals. In his native Canada, he is best remembered for his performance at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, where he hit a bases-loaded single in the 11th inning to beat a more experienced U.S. team and put Canada in the semifinals. Langley Blaze
The Langley Blaze are a youth baseball team located in the city of Langley, British Columbia. The Langley Blaze was founded in 2001 by Doug Mathieson, a former right-handed pitcher who played in the MLB Minor Leagues for seven years. The Blaze's home field is located in the McLeod Athletic Park which was completed in 2003. Prior to the completion, the Blaze played at City Park. They are part of the B.C. Premier Baseball League. The Tennessee Smokies are a Minor League Baseball team based in Kodak, Tennessee, a suburb of Knoxville. The team, which plays in the Southern League, is the Double-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Robinson (born May 12, 1984) is a Canadian former Major League Baseball (MLB) catcher who played for the San Diego Padres in 2013, and who also played internationally for the Canada national baseball team in the 2009 Baseball World Cup, the 2011 Pan American Games, and the 2013 World Baseball Classic. David Ross Corrente (born October 13, 1983 in Wallaceburg, Ontario, Canada) is a former Minor League Baseball catcher. Corrente played in the minor leagues from 2001 to 2008 and played for Team Canada in the 2008 Summer Olympics.
