Peter Basch (September 23, 1921 – March 15, 2004) was an American magazine and glamour photographer. He was born in Berlin, lived and died in New York City. The main body of his work was produced in the fifties and sixties. Early life Peter Basch was born in Berlin, Germany, the only child of Felix Basch and Grete Basch-Freund, both prominent theater and film personalities of the German-speaking world. In 1933 the family came to New York due to fears of rising anti-Jewish sentiment and laws in Germany. The family had US citizenship because Felix's father, Arthur Basch, was a wine trader who lived in San Francisco. After moving back to Germany, Arthur Basch kept his American citizenship, and passed it to his children and, thence, to his grandchildren. Victor Basch
Basch Viktor Vilém, or Victor-Guillaume Basch (18 August 1863/1865, Budapest – 10 January 1944) was a French politician and professor of germanistics and philosophy at the Sorbonne descending from Hungary. He was engaged in the Zionist movement, in the Ligue des droits de l'homme (president from 1926 to 1944) and in Anti-Nazism. His father was the journalist and political activist, Raphael Basch. Born in Budapest in 1863, Victor Basch emigrated with his family to France as a child, and later studied at the Sorbonne. In 1885 he was appointed professor at the University of Nancy, and in 1887 at the University of Rennes, where he became friend with Jean Jaurès. During the Dreyfus affair Basch was the leader of the Dreyfusards at Rennes, who were placed in a serious and difficult position when the case was tried in that city. Samuel Siegfried Karl ''Ritter'' von Basch (9 September 1837, Prague25 April 1905) was an Austrian-Jewish (Yekke) physician who was best known as the personal physician of emperor Maximilian of Mexico and the inventor of the blood pressure meter (also known as sphygmomanometer). Basch was educated at Charles University in Prague and the University of Vienna. From 1857 he studied chemistry at the laboratory of Ernst Wilhelm von Brücke in Vienna, and five years later began the practice of medicine. From that time until 1865 he was assistant to Leopold Ritter von Dittel, Eduard Jäger von Jaxtthal, Ludwig Türck and Eugen Kolisko (18111884) at the University of Vienna. Dr. Franz Anton Basch ( hu, Basch Ferenc Antal) (13 July 1901 – 27 April 1946) was a Shwovish Nazi politician, the chairman of Volksbund der Deutschen in Ungarn and the leader of the Shwoveh (Danube Swabian) community in Hungary. Franz Basch was born in Zürich in 1901. He was a student of the more moderate nationalist activist Jakob Bleyer and earned his doctorate at the University of Budapest between 1920 and 1924. He matriculated from the University of Munich on 5 December 1925 In 1925 he became the secretary of the German Cultural Society. He published many works in this period. From 1930, he began to express extreme nationalist propaganda and became a follower of Nazism. In 1934 he resigned his position because he affronted the Hungarian nation with his ideas. Harry Leo Basch (January 16, 1926 – June 23, 2020) was an American actor and author. In 1951 he appeared in "Mr. Roberts" at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco. He is possibly best known for his role as Vince Caproni in the 1980s television series ''Falcon Crest''. Basch appeared in ''Falcon Crest'' from 1982 to 1984. He also appeared as Dr. Brown in the ''Star Trek'' episode "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" in 1966. In addition to acting, Basch wrote several articles for the ''Los Angeles Times'' about traveling. He and his wife, actress Shirley Slater, also wrote several books on the subject including ''RV Vacations for Dummies''. In the 1950s, Basch was married to actress Leesa Troy. Árpád Basch (April 16, 1873, Budapest - 1944, Budapest) was a Hungarian painter and graphic artist. Initially intending to follow an industrial career, Basch attended training at the Department of Metallurgy at the ''Staatliche Mittelschule'' (government school) for one year, after which he decided to become an artist. He trained under Simon Hollósy in Munich, Bihari and Karlovsky in Budapest and Léon Bonnat, Dousset, and Jean Paul Laurens in Paris. He returned once more to Budapest, where he became the art editor of the ''Magyar Genius'' (a Hungarian publication). He painted several commissions for the ''Millennia Exposition'', and devoted considerable attention to poster painting. He was a collaborator on "''The Poster''" and on "''Les Maîtres de l'Affiche''", but his principal occupation was water-color decorative painting. Raphael Basch, also Rafael Basch (1813, Prague - 22 January 1907, Paris) was a Bohemian-Austrian writer and politician. He was the father of Victor Basch (1863–1944). At the first disturbances preliminary to the Revolution of 1848, he went to Vienna, and took an active part in the insurrection. Here he founded the '' Reichstagblatt'', which he continued at Kremsier until the dissolution of the Constitutional Assembly, in March, 1849. He then joined the staff of the '' Oesterreichische Post'' of Vienna, which he represented at Berlin; subsequently he was the Paris correspondent of several papers. Gyula Basch (April 9, 1851 - January 2, 1928), was a Hungarian painter. Basch was born in Budapest. After completing his studies at the gymnasium, he attended the polytechnicinstitute at Zurich (1867–72), where he obtained his diploma as engineer. He devoted himself, however, exclusively to painting, and became first a dayscholar at the École des Beaux-Arts at Paris (1873–74), and afterward a pupil of T. Paczka (1885) and of the painter L. Horovitz in Budapest (1888), finally occupying himself with genre and portrait painting. He died in Baden bei Wien.
