Percy Bartley Powell (Bartley Powell) was a graphic designer for Great Britain from the 1940s to 1977, a professional within the graphic design and graphic arts industry. During his career, he created graphics and illustrations for books, postal stamps, advertising, and annual reports. Career Powell's career started during his service in the Royal Air Force. He held various teaching posts from 1944 to 1977, as a regular part-time Lecturer. While stationed in New Delhi, India he taught evening classes at Sarada Ukil School of Art Sarada Ukil School of Art from 1944 to 1946. When he returned to England he started a position as a Trade Mark Designer for Kaumagraph Co located in Manchester. From 1949 to 1954 he was the Typographer at The Cloister Press, Ltd., Manchester. The Chartered Society of Designers (CSD) is a professional body for designers. It is the only Royal Chartered body of experienced designers. Its membership is multi-disciplinary – representing designers in all design, disciplines including Interior Design, Product Design, Graphic Design, Fashion and Textile Design. Jacob Bronowski
Jacob Bronowski (18 January 1908 – 22 August 1974) was a Polish-British mathematician and philosopher. He was known to friends and professional colleagues alike by the nickname Bruno. He is best known for developing a humanistic approach to science, and as the presenter and writer of the thirteen-part 1973 BBC television documentary series, and accompanying book ''The Ascent of Man'', which led to his regard as "one of the world's most celebrated intellectuals". Croydon College is a large further and higher education college located in Croydon, within the London Borough of Croydon. Its origins can be traced to a School of Art that was established in 1868, which subsequently merged with Croydon Polytechnic to create the college shortly after the Second World War. Manchester School of Art in Manchester, England, was established in 1838 as the Manchester School of Design. It is the second oldest art school in the United Kingdom after the Royal College of Art which was founded the year before. It is now part of Manchester Metropolitan University.
