Bart Chabot
Bart Chabot (The Hague, 26 September 1954) is a Dutch writer and poet. Biography Chabot went to the University of Leiden to study Dutch language and literature. During that period, he befriended the artists and drug users Jules Deelder and Herman Brood. Chabot's parents thoroughly disapproved. Soon after, Chabot decided to abandon his studies. In 1979, he made his debut as a poet with ''Als u zó gaat beginnen'' followed by ''Popcorn'' in 1981. Chabot did not want to cater to the world of literary critics, and attempted to write poetry everybody could understand with references to McDonalds, supermarkets, and rock-and-roll. Of his 1993 poetry collection ''Genadebrood'', a reviewer in ''World Literature Today'' noted Chabot's cynical philosophy and commented on the depressing nature of many of the poems. In 1996, Chabot wrote his first biography called ''Broodje gezond'' (Healthy sandwich) about Herman Brood. The book became a bestseller selling 50,000 copies by 2003, and received ... Carel Peeters
Carel Peeters (born 5 June 1944, in Nijmegen) is one of the leading Dutch literary critics and since 1973 a writer and editor at ''Vrij Nederland''. Peeters grew up in Nijmegen but moved, with his parents, to Amsterdam at age 14. In 1964 he enrolled at the University of Amsterdam to study literature, and began writing for the newspaper ''Het Parool''; he never attained his degree. In 1970 he was hired by ''Elsevier'', where he worked as the assistant of Wim Zaal, and in 1973 moved to ''Vrij Nederland'' (where he still works) and started their literary supplement, which in 1982 earned him an award from the Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek, the Dutch trade organization for booksellers and publishers. De Bezige Bij ("the busy bee") is one of the most important literary publishing companies in the Netherlands. History The company was founded illegally in 1943, during the German occupation of the Netherlands by ; its first publication was a poem by Jan Campert called ''De Achttien Dooden'' ("The eighteen dead"), which describes the execution of 15 resistance fighters and three communists. The poem was sold to raise money for Jewish children who were placed with Dutch families; when it was published, in the spring of 1943, Campert had already died in the Neuengamme concentration camp. When the German occupier rounded up students for the Arbeitseinsatz, Lubberhuizen hid in the attic of Maarten Vink, a surgeon, and ran the press from there. The name is derived from one of Lubberhuizen's aliases, "Bas." After he had signed a note, "Bas (busy)," an English-speaking friend joked, "Bas, busy as a bee can be," which led to the current name. BNNVARA () is a broadcasting association and network within the Dutch public broadcasting system. History BNNVARA was founded on 1 January 2014 through a merger of the BNN (founded 1997) and VARA (founded 1925) associations. These continued to exist without broadcasting directly until 2018. In 2011 VARA and BNN announced that they would merge. On 6 November 2011 the members of VARA voted for the merger, after the member council of BNN had already done so a week earlier. The merger was opposed by the VVD and the Freedom Party. BNN and VARA announced on 8 February 2012 that the decision to merge was definite. NPO 3 (''NPO drie'', formerly Nederland 3 until 2014) is the third and youngest of the terrestrial television channels operated by the Dutch public-broadcasting organization NPO in the Netherlands. It carries programmes provided by member-based non-profit broadcasting associations and is oriented towards children, youth and innovative television. Remco Campert (28 July 1929 – 4 July 2022) was a Dutch author, poet and columnist. Early years Remco Wouter Campert was born in The Hague, son of writer and poet Jan Campert, author of the poem ''De achttien dooden'', and actress Joekie Broedelet. His parents separated when he was three years old, causing him to sometimes live with either of his parents and sometimes his grandparents, depending on situations and circumstances. His father died in 1943 in a Nazi concentration camp, Neuengamme. Remco then went to live with his mother.
