Barry Brooks (diplomat)
Barry Brooks (born 24 December 1983) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early career Brooks was recruited as the number 15 draft pick in the 2001 AFL Draft from Grassy. He failed to make his debut for Port Adelaide and was traded at the end of the 2002 season to St Kilda in exchange for picks 6 (Steven Salopek) and 31 (on-traded to North Melbourne as part of the deal to secure Byron Pickett; pick 31 was used by North to draft Joel Perry). St Kilda career Brooks made his debut for the Saints in Round 1 of the 2003 season against North Melbourne and played five games for the year. After problems with injury he did not play a game in 2004 and only two in 2005. King Island (Tasmania)
King Island is an island in the Bass Strait, belonging to the Australian state of Tasmania. It is the largest of three islands known as the New Year Group, and the second-largest island in Bass Strait (after Flinders Island). Byron Pickett
Byron Pickett (born 11 August 1977) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played with three clubs in the AFL. He was known as a big game player as well as for his strength, hard bumps and tough approach to the game. Pickett is one of 12 players with two premiership medallions, a Norm Smith Medal and over 200 AFL games. In 2005 Pickett was acknowledged as one of the finest Aboriginal players in the history of the game, with his selection to the Indigenous Team of the Century. He announced his retirement from AFL at the end of the 2007 season. After his retirement from the AFL in 2007 he continued playing semi-professionally, including some time with the Port Adelaide Magpies in the South Australian National Football League. Steven Salopek (born 21 June 1985) is an Australian rules footballer of Croatian descent who played for Port Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from Narre Warren Football Club in Melbourne's south-east, Salopek played for the Dandenong Stingrays in the TAC Cup before being a first round drafted choice at the 2002 AFL Draft, being selected at number six by Port Adelaide. Salopek is currently an Assistant Coach (Backline) for the Carlton Football Club in the AFL Women's.
