Barros Blancos
Barros Blancos is a city in the Canelones Department of southern Uruguay. In 1976, it had been renamed to Juan Antonio Artigas, after commanding officer Juan Antonio Artigas, grandfather of the national hero José Gervasio Artigas, but the old name was reinstated in 2007. Barros Blancos is also the name of the municipality to which the city belongs and which includes the two fragments of Camino Maldonado and some surrounding rural areas. Location The city is located on Route 8, northeast by road from Montevideo, on the road to Pando, also north of Colonia Nicolich and southwest of Toledo and Joaquín Suárez. Departments Of Uruguay
Uruguay consists of 19 departments (''departamentos''). Each department has a legislature called a Departmental Board. The ''Intendente'' is the department's chief executive. History The first division of the Republic into six departments occurred on 27 January 1816. In February of the same year, two more departments were formed, and in 1828 one more was added. When the First Constitution was signed in 1830, there were nine departments. Telephone Numbers In Uruguay
Uruguay's calling code is +598. Since 2010, national long distance calling was eliminated, thus there are no area codes in each city. Landline telephony ANTEL (Spanish abbreviation for National Administration of Telecommunications) is Uruguay's state-owned company for telecommunications. Previously in Uruguay, phone numbers used to have between 4 and 7 digits. To make a local phone call, you only had to dial those digits. To make a call between two cities from different departments, you had to dial zero, plus area code, plus phone number. As from August 29, 2010, all phone numbers have 8 digits, according to the new National Numbering Plan. Zero prior to area code was eliminated. Canelones Department
The Departamento de Canelones ( es, Departamento de Canelones; ) is one of the 19 uruguayan departments. With an area of and 518,154 inhabitants, it is located in the south of Uruguay. Its capital is Canelones. Geography and climate Neighbouring departments are Maldonado and Lavalleja to the East, Florida to the North, San José to the West, and Montevideo to the South. José Gervasio Artigas
José Gervasio Artigas Arnal (; June 19, 1764 – September 23, 1850) was a political leader, military general, statesman and national hero of Uruguay and the broader Río de la Plata region. He fought in the Latin American wars of independence against the Spanish Empire, but also against the Portuguese Empire and the centralist government of Buenos Aires in the pursuit of political and civil liberties for the peoples of the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata. He is considered a ''Libertador'' of Latin America and a national hero in Uruguay, sometimes referred to as "the father of Uruguayan nationhood". Route 8 (Uruguay)
Route 8 is a national route of Uruguay. In 1975, it was assigned the name Brigadier General Juan Antonio Lavalleja, a national hero of Uruguay. It connects Montevideo with Aceguá in the northeast. The distance notation along Route 5 uses the same Kilometre Zero reference as Routes 1, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9 and IB, which is the Pillar of Peace of Plaza de Cagancha in the Centro of Montevideo. Pando is a city in the Canelones Department of Uruguay. It is an important commercial and industrial centre which has become part of the wider metropolitan area of Montevideo. Colonia Nicolich
General Seregni (former Colonia Nicolich) is a town in the Canelones Department of southern Uruguay. Colonia Nicolich is also the name of the municipality to which the town belongs and which includes the areas Colinas de Carrasco (Empalme) and Villa Aeroparque. Location The town is located directly north and northeast of the Carrasco International Airport on Route 102. It is part of the wider metropolitan area of Montevideo. History Since the 19th century, the area has been characterized by intensive agriculture supplying the markets of Montevideo. In the 1940s a slow urbanization started taking place. Toledo is a small city in the Canelones Department of Uruguay. Joaquín Suárez is a village in the Canelones Department of southern Uruguay. (Suárez is also the name of the municipality to which the village belongs.) ''Nuestra'' is the debut studio album of the Venezuelan rock band La Vida Bohème, released in August 2010. Recorded and produced by Rudy Pagliuca, it is a free download on the website of the record label All of the Above. The album was nominated for "Best Latin Pop, Rock or Urban Album" in the 54th Grammy Awards. The two singles from this album are "Radio Capital" and "Danz!". Background and Recording The album was recorded in Caracas in 2009, on fairly independent terms. Guitarist Daniel De Sousa happened to be studying engineering at the time, and took on designing a distortion pedal that was used on the album.
