Barrier To The North
''Barrier to the North'' ( it, Barriera a Settentrione) is a 1950 Italian mountain film directed by and starring Luis Trenker. It also stars Amedeo Nazzari, Marianne Hold and Margarete Genske. It is sometimes known by the alternative title of ''Mountain Smugglers''. Plot Two customs officers are shot dead by drug smugglers in the border area with Italy. Secret police officer Major Mauri decides to catch the perpetrators. Lieutenant Berti, who is supposed to carry out the action with him, is slightly injured after a climbing accident and is therefore not fully operational. Both decide to incorporate Berti's injury into their plan. You climb the Dolomites and stay in one of the mountain huts, where Berti is discovered by mountain guide Stefan Hassler. Luis Trenker (born Alois Franz Trenker, 4 October 1892 – 13 April 1990) was a South Tyrolean film producer, director, writer, actor, architect, Mountaineering, alpinist, and Bobsleigh, bobsledder. Biography Early life Alois Franz Trenker was born on 4 October 1892 in Urtijëi, County of Tyrol, Tyrol (german: link=no, St. Ulrich in Gröden, it, Ortisei) in the Austria-Hungary, Austro-Hungarian Empire (in present-day northern Italy). His father Jacob Trenker was a painter from North Tyrol, and his mother Karolina (''née'' Demetz) was from Urtijëi in Val Gardena. He grew up speaking two languages: German, the language of his father, and Ladin language, Ladin, the language of his mother. He attended the local primary school from 1898 to 1901, and then attended the Josefinum in Bolzano in 1902 and 1903. Gennaro Di Napoli (born 5 March 1968) is an Italian former middle distance runner. He won 13 medals at the International athletics competitions, 10 of these at senior level. Biography Di Napoli was born in Naples but moved early in his life to Lombardy, in northern Italy. He excelled in the distances from 800 to 3,000 meters. He won the silver medal at the European Championships in Split 1990 over 1500 metres. He missed out on a medal at the World Championships 1991. In 1992 Di Napoli scored a sensational victory over the world champion Noureddine Morceli from Algeria at the Golden Gala meeting in Rome. However, he got injured two weeks before the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992, where he participated, but failed to reach the final.
