Alexander W. Barrie (18 August 1878 – 1 October 1918) was a Scottish professional footballer who played in the Scottish League for Kilmarnock, Rangers and St Bernard's as a centre half. He also played in the Football League for Sunderland and was capped by Scotland at junior level. Robert Barrie
Rear-Admiral Sir Robert Barrie KCB, KCH (5 May 1774 – 7 June 1841) was a British officer of the Royal Navy noted for his service in the War of 1812. He was helped early in his naval career by the patronage of his uncle, Sir Alan Gardner, who arranged for him to take part in the Vancouver Expedition. When the Pacific Coast was explored, he had served as a midshipman with Captain Vancouver in 1791. Career Barrie served in European waters from 1801 to 1811. He was mentioned in dispatches for his gallant conduct in a fight with a French squadron when, as First Lieutenant of ''Bourdelais'', "though dangerously wounded, he had disdained to quit the deck". Barrie then commanded a number of ships during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. Barrie Hole
Barrington Gerard Hole (16 September 1942 – 25 March 2019) was a Welsh professional footballer who played as a midfielder. A Wales international, he began his career with Cardiff City and made his professional debut as a teenager. Career Hole's father Billy had been a professional footballer and played for Swansea Town before World War II, making over 400 appearances and playing in the club's first ever fixture in The Football League. His older brothers Colin and Alan had also both played for their hometown club Swansea, although Colin never made a first team appearance. Barrie did not initially follow the family tradition and instead joined their rivals Cardiff City. Barrie is a city in Southern Ontario, Canada, about north of Toronto. The city is within Simcoe County and located along the shores of Kempenfelt Bay, the western arm of Lake Simcoe. Although physically in Simcoe County, Barrie is politically independent. The city is part of the extended urban area in southern Ontario known as the Greater Golden Horseshoe. As of the 2021 census, the city's population was 147,829, while the census metropolitan area had a population of 212,667 residents. Barrie Cook (1929 – 13 July 2020) was a British abstract artist who lived and worked on The Lizard in Cornwall, England. His works are held in national collections including Tate, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, The Arts Council & the Government Art Collection. and he had regularly exhibited in individual and group shows. He taught at Coventry College of Art, Cardiff College of Art, Birmingham Polytechnic and the University of Wales. He was Head of Department at Stourbridge College of Art on the 1970s. Wendy Barrie (born Marguerite Wendy Jenkins; 18 April 1912 – 2 February 1978) was a British-American film and television actress. Early life Barrie was born in London to English parents. Her father, Francis Charles John Graigoe Jenkin KC (1883 – 1936), was an employee of Great Western (according to the 1901 census), who then joined the Royal Fusiliers in 1902. Her mother was Ellen McDonagh. Shirley Barrie (1945-2018) was a Canadian writer. She was the co-founder of the Wakefield Tricycle Company and Tricycle Theatre. Her plays include ''Straight Stitching'', ''Carrying the Calf'', and ''Tripping Through Time''. Early life and education Barrie was born on September 30 in 1945 in Tillsonburg, Ontario. She was a member of the University Alumnae Dramatic Club at the University of Toronto. Scott Barrie
Scott Barrie (born 10 March 1962, St Andrews) is a Scottish Labour Party politician and former social worker. He was the Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for Dunfermline West from 1999 to 2007, where he was a member of the Communities Committees of the Parliament. Prior to being elected to the Scottish Parliament, Scott was employed by Fife Council in the social work department. He also represented the Dunfermline Central ward on Dunfermline District Council. Scott is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh (MA), the University of Stirling (CQSW) and the University of Dundee (Diploma in Child Protection Studies).
