Mary Barratt Due
Mary Louise Barratt Due (9 April 1888 in Bergen, Norway – 24 December 1969 in Oslo, Norway) was known as one of the most influential Norwegian pianists in the 20th century. She was the daughter of the preacher Thomas Ball Barratt, and the mother to the musicians Stephan Henrik Barratt-Due and Esther Barratt-Due. In 1916 she married the violinist Henrik Adam Due, and together they founded the Barratt Due Institute of Music in 1927. Biography Barratt Due was born in Bergen, but the family moved the following year to Kristiania, where her father was a minister in the Methodist Church. Legh Barratt, erroneously recorded at times as Leigh Barratt (11 December 1871 – 14 December 1950) was an English cricketer from Altrincham in Cheshire, England. Barratt played between 1894 and 1897, largely for Norfolk, though he also took part in two tours of the West Indies: Robert Slade Lucas' 1894–95 tour and Arthur Priestley's 1896–97 tour. Sir Lawrence Arthur Barratt (14 November 1927 – 19 December 2012) was the founder of Barratt Developments, one of the largest housebuilders in the United Kingdom. Career Brought up in the North East of England, Barratt left school at 14 and initially trained as an accountant. Frustrated at the high purchase prices of houses for first-time buyers, in 1953 Barratt decided to go ahead and build his own house in Darras Hall. Lawrie Barratt established Barratt Developments in 1958: as chairman and chief executive and by extensive marketing he expanded it to become one of the largest housebuilders in the United Kingdom. Keren P. J. Barratt (born February 1946) is an English former football referee, who operated in the Football League and Premier League. He was based in Coventry, West Midlands, during his time on the List. Career He became a Football League linesman in 1978, and just two years later was promoted to the Referees List. By the late 1980s he was frequently taking charge of top division games. He became a member of the new Premier League list for the 1992-93 season, taking charge of the game between Manchester United and Everton at Old Trafford on 19 August 1992, with the away side winning 3–0. Josiah Barratt (21 February 1895 – April 1968) was an English professional footballer who played as a winger for various clubs in the 1920s. Playing career Barratt was born in Bulkington, Warwickshire and played his early football with local side Nuneaton Town. During the First World War he served with the Royal Berkshire Regiment and was a guest player for Leicester Fosse, Birmingham and Southampton. At the end of the war, he signed for Southampton in time for the first post-war season.
