Baron Graves
Baron Graves, of Gravesend in the County of Londonderry, is a title in the Peerage of Ireland. It was created on 24 October 1794 for the naval commander Admiral Thomas Graves. He was second in command at the Battle of the Glorious First of June in 1794. His son, the second Baron, represented Okehampton, Windsor and Milborne Port. He was succeeded by his son, the third Baron. This line of the family failed on the death of his son, the fourth Baron, in 1904. The fourth Baron was succeeded by his first cousin, the son of the Hon. Henry Richard Graves, third son of the second Baron. On the death of his own son and only male heir, this line of the family also failed. The sixth Baron was succeeded by his first cousin, the son of Claude Thomas Graves, third son of the Hon. Peter Graves, 8th Baron Graves
Peter George Wellesley Graves, 8th Baron Graves (21 October 1911 – 6 June 1994) was an English actor. Born in London, Graves was the son of Henry Algernon Claude Graves, 7th Baron Graves. Admiral Thomas Graves, 1st Baron Graves, was his great-great-great-grandfather. He was educated at Harrow School. Biography Known during his acting career as Peter Graves, he specialised in light comedies and musicals, often cast as dapper young men about town. His career peaked in the mid-to-late 1940s, beginning with the films of director/writer Val Guest, including ''Miss London Ltd.'' (1943) and '' Bees in Paradise'' (1944), opposite Arthur Askey; and ''Give Us the Moon'' (1944) and ''I'll Be Your Sweetheart'' (1945), opposite Margaret Lockwood. Other roles included the lead in '' Spring Song'' (1946), and George IV in both ''The Laughing Lady'' (1946) and ''Mrs. Fitzherbert'' (1947). A coronet is a small crown consisting of ornaments fixed on a metal ring. A coronet differs from other kinds of crowns in that a coronet never has arches, and from a tiara in that a coronet completely encircles the head, while a tiara does not. Fleet Street
Fleet Street is a major street mostly in the City of London. It runs west to east from Temple Bar at the boundary with the City of Westminster to Ludgate Circus at the site of the London Wall and the River Fleet from which the street was named. The street has been an important through route since Roman times. During the Middle Ages, businesses were established and senior clergy lived there; several churches remain from this time including Temple Church and St Bride's. The street became known for printing and publishing at the start of the 16th century, and it became the dominant trade so that by the 20th century most British national newspapers operated from here. Evelyn Paget Graves, 9th Baron Graves (17 May 1926 – 6 December 2002), was an Australian farmer and peer. Graves was born in Tasmania, Australia, and worked as a farmer. In 1994 he succeeded his second cousin as ninth Baron Graves. However, as this was an Irish peerage it did not entitle him to a seat in the House of Lords The House of Lords, also known as the House of Peers, is the Bicameralism, upper house of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.
