Barok
Barok is considered one of the most popular komiks characters in the Philippines created by Filipino cartoonist Bert Sarile in 1973. It also means Sillano. A stone-age Philippine comic book character, Barok was described by Sarile as a lead character and one of the equivalents in the Philippine comic book industry of the American cartoon characters in The Flintstones. Barok was illustrated in komiks by Sarile as a “pre-historic caveman” who carried a “large spiked club”. Comic book version Barok was featured weekly in the pages of ''Hiwaga Komiks''. Conceived by Bert Sarile as a character of ethnic background that mirrored the “Filipino foibles in a primitive-age setting”, Barok was the more contemporary substitute to '' Bondying'', a postwar Filipino comic book character. Chiquito (actor)
Augusto Valdes Pangan, Sr. (March 12, 1932 – July 2, 1997), professionally known as Chiquito, was a Filipino actor and comedian. Biography Chiquito was born Augusto Valdes Pangan in Manila. His entertainment career began at the age of 13, when he appeared in a major musical production at the Manila Grand Opera House. In the next several years, he was a fixture in the Manila bodabil circuit, popular for his skill in dancing the boogie-woogie. Chiquito was befriended by Fernando Poe, Sr., and with Poe's assistance, started a film career. He broke into films with ''Sanggano'' from Palaris Pictures. He would star in over a hundred films, mostly comedies, over the next five decades. He established his own production company, Sotang Bastos Productions, named after his favorite film role from the 1950s. Bondying is a comic book character created by Filipino people, Filipino graphic novelist Mars Ravelo and first introduced by Pilipino Komiks on August 29, 1953. He is a large person who is still considered a baby. Character history Comic books Films *In 1954, Fred Montilla played Bondying in the first film adaptation of the same title. 1976 Metro Manila Film Festival
The 2nd Metro Manila Film Festival was held in the year 1976. It was known as 1976 Filipino Film Festival at that time. Eddie Romero's ''Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon'' received most of the awards with a total of six including the Best Film and Metro Manila Film Festival Award for Best Actor for Christopher de Leon.
