Broxton, Cheshire
Broxton is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. The village is 11 miles south of Chester, and only 10 miles east of Wrexham in Wales. The civil parish also contains the small settlements of Barnhill, Bolesworth, Brown Knowl, Fuller's Moor and Meadow Bank. According to the 2001 Census it had a total population of 390, increasing to 461 at the 2011 census. Barnhill is an area in Dundee, located within the suburb of Broughty Ferry. It is approximately 4½ miles east of Dundee City Centre. Until the late 19th century, Barnhill was a separate village. Description Barnhill is located in the north east of Broughty Ferry and extends to the city boundary between Dundee and Angus. The area borders the recent Balgillo Park housing development and, at North Balmossie Street, with Monifieth. It contains both private and council housing. The main commercial area is the Campfield Shopping Square which includes a post office, a pub named ''The Barn'' as well as Co-Operative Food and Iceland stores. Barnhill, Jura
Barnhill is a farmhouse in the north of the island of Jura in the Scottish Inner Hebrides overlooking the Sound of Jura. It stands on the site of a larger 15th-century settlement, Cnoc an t-Sabhail; the English name Barnhill has been in use since the early twentieth century. The house was rented by the essayist and novelist George Orwell, who lived there intermittently from 1946 until January 1949. He completed his final novel, ''Nineteen Eighty-Four'', at Barnhill. According to a BBC report, Orwell was spending months on the island "to escape the daily grind of journalism and to find a clean environment which doctors thought would help him recover from a dangerous bout of tuberculosis". Orwell left Jura in January 1949 to get treatment at a sanatorium at Cranham, Gloucestershire and never returned. Brent North is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 1997 by Barry Gardiner of the Labour Party.
