Barney In Concert
''Barney in Concert'' is a '' Barney & the Backyard Gang'' stage show, taped at Majestic Theatre in Dallas, Texas on March 14, 1991, and released on video four months later on July 29, 1991. It also features the TV show ''Barney & Friends''. Music An audio cassette version of ''Barney in Concert'' was released in 1992 with a purchase of a Time-Life Video release of a Barney video with a credit card. There were only two versions of the cassette made. PBS Airing In early 1993, PBS Kids aired the direct-to-video special as part of the ''Barney & Friends'' marathon to support and fund the show's second season. Plot The audience gets settled in before they hear a voice (Michael) saying the magic words, "Shimbaree, Shimbarah". Sheryl Leach
Sheryl Lyna Stamps Leach (born December 31, 1952) is an American author and creator of the children's show ''Barney & Friends'', along with Kathy Parker and Dennis DeShazer. Education Leach holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Southern Methodist University (SMU) and a master's degree in bilingual education from Texas A & M University. Career Leach created Barney the Dinosaur in the mid-1980s. Together with co-creators Kathy Parker and Dennis DeShazer, she developed and launched the Barney property worldwide. Barney became one of the highest-rated children's television series and a best-selling children's brand globally. Leach, a former teacher, worked with Parker and Deshazer on what would become the TV show in 1987. Originally, the star of the show was envisioned as a teddy bear, but since her toddler son sparked an interest in dinosaurs, the character was changed to a dinosaur. "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" is a popular English lullaby. The lyrics are from an early-19th-century English poem written by Jane Taylor, "The Star". You're A Grand Old Flag
"You're a Grand Old Flag" is an American patriotic march. The song, a spirited march written by George M. Cohan, is a tribute to the U.S. flag. In addition to obvious references to the flag, it incorporates snippets of other popular songs, including one of his own. Cohan wrote it in 1906 for his stage musical ''George Washington, Jr.'' History The song was first publicly performed on February 6, the play's opening night, at Herald Square Theater in New York City. "You're a Grand Old Flag" quickly became the first song from a musical to sell over a million copies of sheet music. The title and first lyric comes from someone Cohan once met; the Library of Congress website notes. "You're a Grand Old Flag" would go on to become one of the most popular U.S. marching-band pieces of all time. In the play itself, the scene with the Civil War soldier was replicated. "Down by the Station" (also known as "Down at the Station") is a popular song written by Paul Mills and Slim Gaillard and first recorded by The Slim Gaillard Trio in 1947.
