Barney Bussey
Barney Bussey (born May 20, 1962) is a former American football safety. Bussey was born in Lincolnton, Georgia. He attended high school at Lincoln County High School in Lincolnton where he was a major reason behind Lincoln County's defensive success in the late 1970s. Bussey played both offense and defense. In 1979, he was named to the Class AA All-State team. Bussey then attended South Carolina State University, where he became a Division I-AA All-American Defensive Back. After college, Bussey was selected in the 1st round (8th overall) of the 1984 USFL Draft by the Memphis Showboats in January 1984. Four months later he was selected in the 5th round (119th overall) in the 1984 NFL Draft. Bussey then signed with the USFL Showboats on May 8, 1984, and spent two seasons with Memphis. Safety is a position in gridiron football on the American football positions#Defense, defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety and the strong safety. Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. The defensive responsibilities of the safety and cornerback usually involve pass coverage towards the middle and sidelines of the field. While American (11-player) formations generally use two safeties, Canadian (12-player) formations generally have one safety and two Halfback (Canadian football), defensive halfbacks, a position not used in the American game. Lakota West High School
Lakota West High School is a four-year, public high school in West Chester Township, a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. It is a member of the Lakota Local School District, which comprises both West Chester Township and Liberty Township. The district was originally unified under one high school, Lakota High School, until 1997 when the district expanded and formed two new high schools – Lakota West and Lakota East. Enrollment for Lakota West exceeds 2,500 students, and the school's radio station, WLHS 89.9 FM, is a remnant of the former high school and is staffed by students from both Lakota East and Lakota West.
