Joachim Hartvig Johan von Barner (1699–1768) was a Danish-German military officer and government official. He served as the County Governor of several counties in Norway and Denmark. Barner was born in Mecklenburg which was part of the Holy Roman Empire, but moved to Denmark in his youth. He started out as a military officer, serving in the Danish military until 1746. In 1746, he was appointed as the Diocesan Governor of Christianssand stiftamt (and simultaneously serving as the County Governor of Nedenæs amt). Martin Barner
Martin Barner (19 April 1921 – 31 July 2020) was a German mathematician working in the fields of differential geometry and analysis. Barner received his doctorate in 1950 at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg. From 1957 he was professor in Karlsruhe and from 1962 at his alma mater in Freiburg, where he retired in 1989. From 1963 to 1994 he was director of the Mathematical Research Institute of Oberwolfach and from 1968 to 1977 he was president of the German Mathematical Society. He died in July 2020 at the age of 99. Regitze Barner
Regitze Vilhelmine Louise Augusta Barner (28 February 1834 – 2 December 1911) was a Danish noblewoman, philanthropist and writer. She is remembered for her efforts to facilitate conditions and opportunities for women, both young and old. These included her involvement in the Deaconess Foundation (''Diakonissestiftelsen'') and the Prison Association (''Fængselsselskabet''). In 1879, she founded and chaired the Society for the Protection of Single Women (''Foreningen til Værn for enligt stillede Kvinder'') which was designed to prevent young women turning to prostitution. In addition to a history of the Deaconess Foundation, shortly before her death she wrote an autobiography which was published in two volumes in 1911.
