Manirul Islam
Manirul Islam Monir (born 1 March 1952) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and the former Member of Parliament of Barisal-2. Early life Manirul was born on 1 March 1952. His father Rafiqul Islam was the president of Barisal District NAP and a professor of Bangla and Philosophy in BM College. Mother Mahmuda Rafiq was a poet, writer and teacher. He and his brothers Zahidul Islam Mahmud Jami and Maidul Islam Chuni played a heroic role in the great liberation war in Sector 9. His sister Nargis Rafika Rahman was a journalist. Syed Azizul Huq ( bn, সৈয়দ আজিজুল হক; 1 October 1912 – 11 February 1992), also known by his daak naam Nanna Mia ( bn, নান্না মিঞা), was a Bangladeshi politician and former Member of Parliament from Barisal-2 in 1986 and 1988 Bangladeshi general election. Rashed Khan Menon (born 18 May 1943) is a Bangladeshi politician. He is the president of Workers Party of Bangladesh and was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dhaka-8 in the 2008 general election. Menon was re-elected at the 2014 general elections. He is the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of Education. Earlier, he served as the Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism. Early life Menon was born in Faridpur. 2018 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 30 December 2018 to elect 300 directly-elected members of the Jatiya Sangsad. The result was a landslide victory for the Awami League led by Sheikh Hasina. According to political scientist Ali Riaz, the elections were not free and fair. Abul Hasanat Abdullah (born 10 December 1944) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and a member of parliament for constituency Barisal-1. Career Abdullah was elected Upazila Chairman in Barisal in 1973. In 1975, his father, Abdur Rab Serniabat, was killed in the 15 August 1975 Bangladesh coup d'état. 2014 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 5 January 2014, in accordance with the constitutional requirement that elections must take place within the 90-day period before the expiration of the term of the Jatiya Sangshad on 24 January 2014. General elections were held in Bangladesh on 1 October 2001. The 300 single-seat constituencies of the Jatiya Sangsad were contested by 1,935 candidates representing 54 parties and including 484 independents.
