Doug Barfield
Doug Barfield (born March 14, 1936) is a former American football player and coach. Barfield was the head football coach at Auburn University from 1976 to 1980 where he compiled an on-field record of 27–27–1 during his five-year tenure. Auburn was subsequently awarded two victories due to forfeits by Mississippi State in 1976 and 1977, thus improving Barfield's record to 29–25–1. Barfield lost all five games as head coach at Auburn against in-state rival, Alabama. A native of Grove Hill, Alabama, Barfield played college football at The University of Southern Mississippi. Prior to becoming the head football coach at Auburn, he served as an assistant for several college football teams, including a stint as the offensive coordinator at Auburn from 1974 to 1975. Jesse Barfield
Jesse Lee Barfield (born October 29, 1959) is an American former professional baseball player and coach. He played in Major League Baseball as an right fielder from 1981 to 1992 for the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees. A two-time Gold Glove Award winner, Barfield was a strong defensive player featuring an impressive throwing arm that allowed him to lead the American League (AL) five times in outfielder assists. He ended his playing career ranked second only to Baseball Hall of Fame member, Chuck Klein, in outfielder assists per 1,000 innings. He was also provided strong offense, winning a Silver Slugger Award and leading the American League in home runs in 1986, the same year he was named to the American League All-Star team. Injuries prematurely ended Barfield's major league career after just 11 seasons. Joshua LaRoy Barfield (born December 17, 1982) is a former American professional baseball second baseman. He is the son of former major league outfielder Jesse Barfield. Barfield was born in Venezuela during his mother's two-week winterball visit with his father. Owen Barfield
Arthur Owen Barfield (9 November 1898 – 14 December 1997) was a British philosopher, author, poet, critic, and member of the Inklings. Life Barfield was born in London, to Elizabeth (née Shoults; 1860–1940) and Arthur Edward Barfield (1864–1938). He had three elder siblings: Diana (1891–1963), Barbara (1892–1951), and Harry (1895–1977). He was educated at Highgate School and Wadham College, Oxford and in 1920 received a first class degree in English language and literature. After finishing his B. Litt., which became his third book ''Poetic Diction'', he was a dedicated poet and author for over ten years. After 1934 his profession was as a solicitor in London, from which he retired in 1959 aged 60. Thereafter he had many guest appointments as Visiting Professor in North America. Ron Barfield
Ron Barfield Jr. (born April 20, 1971) is an American former stock car racing driver. He raced in all of the major NASCAR series: Winston Cup, Busch Series, and Craftsman Truck Series, but did not win a race. He is a former protégé of Bill Elliott. Beginnings Barfield began racing at the age of six in go-karts. In 1987, he won the World Karting Association's National Dirt Series Championship. Two years later, he switched to stock car racing and won nine races in a Late Model at Myrtle Beach Speedway. He would win the track championship at Myrtle Beach in 1991, collecting a total of 46 feature wins. In 1994, he was named the Texas Pete All-Pro Series Rookie of the Year, finishing fourth in points. Velma Barfield
Margie Velma Barfield ( née Bullard; October 29, 1932 – November 2, 1984) was an American serial killer who was convicted of one murder, but who eventually confessed to six murders in total. Barfield was the first woman in the United States to be executed after the 1976 resumption of capital punishment and the first since 1962. She was also the first woman to be executed by lethal injection. Life and murders Velma Barfield was born in rural South Carolina, but was raised near Fayetteville, North Carolina. Barfield's father reportedly was physically abusive and her mother, Lillian Bullard, did not intervene. She escaped by marrying Thomas Burke in 1949. Warren Harding Barfield, Jr. (born May 4, 1979) is a Christian musician. Musical career Barfield's first two albums (''Beyond Me'' and ''My Heart Is Quiet'') were independently produced. In 2003, he was signed to CCM label Creative Trust Workshop (CTW), which gave him more exposure. 'My Heart Goes Out' and 'Mistaken', songs from his third album 'Warren Barfield' project became Top 10 Christian radio hits. CTW folded soon thereafter, and Barfield's second studio album, "Reach", was released by Reunion Records in 2006. His third studio album, ''Worth Fighting For'', was released on Essential Records in 2008, produced by Charlie Peacock. Clay County, Alabama
Clay County is a county in the east central part of the U.S. state of Alabama. As of the 2020 census the population was 14,236. Its county seat is Ashland. Its name is in honor of Henry Clay, famous American statesman, member of the United States Senate from Kentucky and United States Secretary of State in the 19th century. It was the last dry county in Alabama with no wet cities within its boundaries, until a vote on March 1, 2016, approved the sale of alcohol in Lineville and Ashland.
