Bardwi Sikhla
Bardwi Sikhla is a Boro folk dance based on the folklore of a legendary fairy of the same name. The fairy has the power to control wind and water to create rain, hailstorm and thunder. She comes in the spring season and rejuvenates the surroundings. Trees and plants blossom and greenery appears everywhere. She is commemorated to welcome the monsoon by the Bwisagu festival. Bardwi Sikhla dance form is the enactment of her nature. Boro People
Boro (बर'/बड़ो ), also called Bodo, is the largest ethnolinguistic group in the Assam state of India. They are a part of the greater Bodo-Kachari family of ethnolinguistic groups and are spread across northeastern India. They are concentrated mainly in the Bodoland Territorial Region of Assam, though Boros inhabit all other districts of Assam and Meghalaya. Boros are officially listed as "Boro, Borokachari" scheduled tribe under the Constitution of India. Boros speak the Boro language, a Boro-Garo language of the Tibeto-Burman family, which is recognised as one of twenty-two Scheduled languages of India. Over two-thirds of the people are bilingual, speaking Assamese as second language. Bwisagu
Bwisaguis one of the most popular seasonal festivals of the Bodos of Assam. The Bodos call this popular festival "Bwisagu", which means the start of the new year. Bwisagu is a Boro word which originated from the word "Bwisa" that means "year" or "age" and "Agu" that means "starting" or "start" This Bwisagu festival is observed at the beginning of the first month of the Boro year, around mid-April.
