Barby, Ardennes
Barby () is a commune in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region of northern France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Barbyons'' or ''Barbyonnes''. The commune has been awarded three flowers by the ''National Council of Towns and Villages in Bloom'' in the ''Competition of cities and villages in Bloom''. Geography Barby is located immediately north-west of Rethel and immediately south-east of Château-Porcien. Access to the commune is by the D926 road from Rethel which passes through the heart of the commune and the village before continuing north-west to Château-Porcien. The D946 from Rethel passes through the north of the commune as it goes north-west to Seraincourt. The commune is entirely farmland. The Aisne river passes through the south-east of the commune forming a small part of the south-eastern border as it flows west to eventually join the Oise at Compiègne. Barby, Germany
Barby () is a town in the Salzlandkreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated on the left bank of the River Elbe, near the confluence with the Saale, approx. southeast of Magdeburg. Since an administrative reform of 1 January 2010 it comprises the former municipalities of the ''Verwaltungsgemeinschaft'' Elbe-Saale, except for Gnadau, that joined Barby in September 2010. The Barby Ferry, a reaction ferry across the Elbe, links Barby with Zerbst-Walternienburg. Barby, Northamptonshire
Barby is a village and civil parish about north of Daventry in Northamptonshire, England. The 2011 Census recorded the parish population as 2,336. Barby is located right off the M45 motorway a short spur from the M1 motorway to the A45 Trunk Road. To the northwest and southwest the parish boundary forms part of the county boundary with Warwickshire, and the village is only about southeast of Rugby. Rains Brook, a tributary of the River Leam, forms the parish and county boundary northwest of the village. The village is near the top of a hill that rises to above sea level south of the village. Barby's toponym comes from the Old Norse ''Bergbýr'', meaning "hill dwelling". Archaeology North of the village is a Norman motte and earthworks but no bailey.
