Barbarian Press is a fine press publisher, owned and operated by Jan Elsted and Crispin Elsted in Mission, B.C., Canada. The university was established by royal charter in 1836 as a degree ... when they met Graham Williams of the Florin Press, who introduced them to letterpress printing using movable type and hand presses. By the time they returned to Canada in 1978 they had abandoned their academic careers, purchased type and a few presses, and were "determined to make beautiful books for the rest of their lives". Crispin Elsted
Crispin Elsted is a Canadian poet and publisher."Poet Reads at the ACT". ''Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Times'', May 16, 2006. He was born on May 31, 1947, to Dennis and Isabel Elsted. He is the co-founder, with his wife Jan Elsted, of the book-publishing company Barbarian Press. Alcuin Society
A voluntary association established in 1965 by Geoff Spencer, the Alcuin Society is a non-profit organisation founded for the book arts. It is located in Canada. It should not be confused with the Alcuin Club, an Anglican publishing society. Among the other six founding members is Basil Stuart-Stubbs. The society is named after Alcuin of York. A book is a medium for recording information in the form of writing or images, typically composed of many pages (made of papyrus, parchment, vellum, or paper) bound together and protected by a cover.
