Barbara Thaler
Barbara Thaler (born 16 February 1982) is an Austrian politician of the Tyrolean People's Party (TVP) who was elected as a Member of the European Parliament in 2019. Political career In parliament, Thaler has been serving on the Committee on Transport and Tourism since 2019. In this capacity, she has been part of the Tourism Task Force (TTF). In addition to her committee assignments, Thaler is part of the Parliament's delegation for relations with India and the European Parliament Intergroup on Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs). |
Austrian People's Party
The Austrian People's Party (german: Österreichische Volkspartei , ÖVP ) is a Christian-democratic and liberal-conservative political party in Austria. Since December 2021, the party has been led provisionally by Karl Nehammer. 2019 European Parliament Election In Austria
The 2019 European Parliament election in Austria was held in Austria on 26 May 2019 to elect the country's 18 Member of the European Parliament, members of the European Parliament. The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) gained two seats for a total of seven, while the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) and The Greens – The Green Alternative, The Greens each lost one. The election took place nine days after the start of the Ibiza affair, which led to the resignation of Vice-Chancellor and FPÖ leader Heinz-Christian Strache and the collapse of the federal ÖVP–FPÖ government. Tiroler Volkspartei
The Tiroler Volkspartei (English: Tyrolean People's Party) is the Tirol branch of the Austrian People's Party. The party was formed through a merger of the rival Christian Social Party and the Catholic Conservatives on October 27, 1918. After winning the first provincial legislative election in 1919, the Tiroler Volkspartei remained the most powerful party until the end of the First Austrian Republic. Within the party, the Tiroler Bauernbund (Farmers league) formed the largest and most influential group. In the area of South Tyrol, which had been annexed to Italy, the Tiroler Volkspartei joined in a coalition with the Deutschfreiheitliche Partei called the Deutscher Verband.
