Vernon Sykes (born October 2, 1951) is an American politician serving as the state Senator for the 28th district of the Ohio Senate. The Ohio House of Representatives is the lower house of the Ohio General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Ohio; the other house of the bicameral legislature being the Ohio Senate. The House of Representatives first met in Chillicothe on March 3, 1803, under the later superseded state constitution of that year. In 1816, the capital was moved to Columbus, where it is located today. Members are limited to four successive two-year elected terms (terms are considered successive if they are separated by less than four years). Mary Ellen Hinamon Withrow (born October 2, 1930) is an American activist and former politician who served as the 40th Treasurer of the United States from March 1, 1994 to January 20, 2001 under President Bill Clinton. She also was Treasurer when the $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 notes were redesigned in the 1990s. Biography A native of Marion County, Ohio, Withrow served as the treasurer of her home state of Ohio, a position to which she was elected in 1982, 1986, and 1990. Before that, she was elected Treasurer of her native Marion County, Ohio in 1976 and 1980. This makes her the only person to have held the post of treasurer at all three levels of government — local, state and national. Withrow began her career in public service in 1969 as the first woman elected to the Elgin Local School Board in Marion County.
