Barbara Holborow
Barbara Anne Holborow ( Edmonds, 29 June 1930 – 23 May 2012) was an Australian magistrate in the New South Wales Children's Court. Biography Holborow was born on 29 June 1930 to William Edmonds, a painter and decorator, and Elsie () Dunlop, aged 45 at the time of Holborow's birth, as the only surviving child of the family, two sons having predeceased her. As a child she very much enjoyed playing the piano, later saying it was her "best friend". She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age thirteen. She married John Holborow, who was then an insurance agent, in 1953, and worked as a secretary in his office; the couple had a son, who died shortly after birth due to complications related to Holborow's diabetes, and a daughter. The couple separated shortly after their daughter's birth. Shortly after the separation, she began working as a secretary for a solicitor in the area, at first part-time and gradually full-time. Order Of Australia
The Order of Australia is an honour that recognises Australian citizens and other persons for outstanding achievement and service. It was established on 14 February 1975 by Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia, on the advice of the Australian Government. Before the establishment of the order, Australian citizens received British honours. The Monarch of Australia is sovereign head of the order, while the Governor-General of Australia is the principal companion/dame/knight (as relevant at the time) and chancellor of the order. The governor-general's official secretary, Paul Singer (appointed August 2018), is secretary of the order. Foster Care
Foster care is a system in which a minor has been placed into a ward, group home (residential child care community, treatment center, etc.), or private home of a state-certified caregiver, referred to as a "foster parent" or with a family member approved by the state. The placement of the child is normally arranged through the government or a social service agency. The institution, group home, or foster parent is compensated for expenses unless with a family member. In some states, relative or "Kinship" caregivers of children who are wards of the state are provided with a financial stipend. The state, via the family court and child protective services agency, stand ''in loco parentis'' to the minor, making all legal decisions while the foster parent is responsible for the day-to-day care of the minor. Milsons Point is a suburb on the lower North Shore of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The suburb is located 3 kilometres north of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of North Sydney Council. Milsons Point is also the geographical feature that juts into Sydney Harbour from the northern side, directly opposite Sydney Cove, the spot where the first European settlement was established in 1788.
