Barbara Fealy
Barbara Vorse Fealy (1903 – December 30, 2000) was an American landscape architect. In 1985, Fealy was elected a fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects, making her the first woman member in Oregon. Her works, which centered in Portland, Oregon, and the broader Pacific Northwest, have been recognized in several ways, including several which have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Fealy worked on landscape design for Timberline Lodge, which was later named a National Historic Landmark. Biography Fealy was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1903 to Albert Justin Vorse, the operator of a large plant nursery, and Bettie Vorse. As a child Fealy worked with her father in the nursery. The Waverley Country Club is a country club located in Clackamas County, Oregon United States. Chartered in 1896, the club was the second private golf club established west of the Mississippi River. History The club was established in April 1896, with its original golf course laid out several miles northeast, in the Richmond neighborhood, near the present-day corner of Southeast César E. Chávez Boulevard and Powell Boulevard. Established two years after the Tacoma Country and Golf Club, Waverley was the second private golf club in the United States established west of the Mississippi River. A year later, in 1897, the club moved to its present location on the east bank of the Willamette River in unincorporated Clackamas County just south of the Sellwood neighborhood of Portland. Government Camp, Oregon
Government Camp is an unincorporated community and census-designated place located in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States, on the base of Mount Hood and north of Tom Dick and Harry Mountain. It is the only town within of Mount Hood and therefore is the ''de facto'' "mountain town" or "ski town". It is the gateway to several ski resorts, with the most popular being Timberline Lodge and Mount Hood Skibowl. Government Camp also has its own, smaller ski resort, Summit Pass. The community is located within the Mount Hood Corridor on U.S. Route 26 (the Mount Hood Highway), near its intersection with Oregon Route 35 and the Barlow Pass summit of the Cascade Range. As of the 2010 census, the community had a population of 193. The government's 2016 estimate indicated a population of 121 persons. Newberg is a city in Yamhill County, Oregon, United States. Located in the Portland metropolitan area, the city is home to George Fox University. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 25,138 making it the second most populous city in the county. History Ewing Young, after leading pioneering fur brigades in California, came to Portland in 1834 and settled on the west bank of the Willamette River near the mouth of Chehalem Creek, opposite of Champoeg. Young's home is believed to be the first house built by European-Americans on that side of the river. Later, Joseph Rogers settled near the Willamette River at what is now Newberg in 1848.
