Barbados–France Relations
Barbadian-French relations are the bilateral relations between the two countries, Barbados and France. Both countries have established diplomatic relations on May 3, 1968. Barbados is represented in France through its embassy in Brussels ( Belgium). France is represented in Barbados through its embassy in Castries (Saint Lucia), led by and an additional honorary consulate in Bridgetown. Bilateral relations The bilateral relations and trade between the two nations remain modest. In 2006, France exported to Barbados mainly: electrical equipment, wood, paper, and cardboard products. Barbados also has trade with France's territories in the Caribbean, such as Guadeloupe and Martinique. The Government of France supports 22 programmes in Barbados. Ties, including trade between Barbados and the French Departments in the Americas, have been steadily increasing. Barbados
Barbados is an island country in the Lesser Antilles of the West Indies, in the Caribbean region of the Americas, and the most easterly of the Caribbean Islands. It occupies an area of and has a population of about 287,000 (2019 estimate). Its capital and largest city is Bridgetown. Inhabited by Island Caribs, Kalinago people since the 13th century, and prior to that by other Indigenous peoples of the Americas, Amerindians, Spanish navigators took possession of Barbados in the late 15th century, claiming it for the Crown of Castile. It first appeared on a Spanish map in 1511. Caribbean News Agency
The Caribbean News Agency (CANA) was founded in 1975 as successor to the former Reuters Caribbean service, created by the Caribbean region's print and broadcast media outlets. Stake-holding media companies share their own local content with CANA which in turn would have access to other media houses' stories and articles. Using this method enabled editors in the region to have their news shared in other neighbouring countries within the Caribbean region. On June 9, 2000, the commercial operations of CANA were merged with the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU) to form the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC), based in Barbados. Chrysoula Zacharopoulou (born 7 May 1976) is a Greek-French gynaecologist and politician who has served as Minister of State for Development, Francophonie and International Partnerships in the government of Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne since 20 May 2022. Lamentin ( Guadeloupean Creole: ) is a commune in the French overseas department and region of Guadeloupe. It is part of the agglomeration of Pointe-à-Pitre, in the north part of Basse-Terre. Three islets are included in the commune: Christopher, Fajou, Caret. A chamber of commerce, or board of trade, is a form of business network. For example, a local organization of businesses whose goal is to further the interests of businesses. Business owners in towns and cities form these local societies to advocate on behalf of the business community.
