Barbados Olympic Association
Barbados Olympic Association, founded in 1962, is the National Olympic Committee for Barbados. The body is also responsible for Barbados' representation at the Commonwealth Games. History Formed after the dissolution of the West Indies Federation in 1962, the Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) first competed at Olympic level at the 1968 Summer Olympics and has continued to compete at every Olympics since excluding the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. 2003 Pan American Games
The 2003 Pan American Games were held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from August 1 to 17, 2003. The successful bid for the games was made in the mid-1990s, when Dominican Republic had one of the highest growth rates in Latin America. All 42 PASO countries and over 5,223 athletes pre-registered for the participation in the XIV Pan American Games. An additional 2,425 trainers and delegates attended. The United States pre-registered the most athletes (713) and Saint Lucia entered the least (6). The host country entered 562 athletes. Bids In December 1998, in Panama City, Panama, Santo Domingo beat Guadalajara, Mexico, and Medellín, Colombia, in the voting to host the games. Andrea Melissa Blackett (born 24 January 1976, in London) is a Barbadian athlete who specializes in the 400 metres hurdles. She is also a women's track assistant coach at her alma mater, Rice University. Her greatest achievement in athletics is the gold medal she won in the 400 metres hurdles at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in a games record time. Damian Arthur Christopher Alleyne (born March 31, 1983) is a Barbadian former swimmer who specialized in freestyle events. He is a two-time Olympian (2000 and 2004), a varsity swimmer for the Georgia Bulldogs, and a graduate of Bolles School and the University of Georgia, with a major in business administration. Alleyne made his official debut, as a 17-year-old, at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. Bradley Ally
Bradley Kevin Ally (born December 11, 1986) is a three-time Olympic swimmer from Barbados. He represented Barbados at the Barbados at the 2004 Summer Olympics, 2004, 2008 Summer Olympics, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. He was the bronze medalist in the 200-meter individual medley at the Pan-American Games in Brazil 2007. He holds the List of Barbadian records in swimming, Barbadian Record in the butterfly and individual medley events, as well as the 200-meter freestyle. Ally was born in Barbados in 1986. Ally received an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where he swam for coach Gregg Troy's Florida Gators swimming and diving team in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition from 2007 to 2010.
