''Bansuri: The Flute'' is a 2021 Indian Hindi-language drama film written and directed by Hari Viswanath. Produced by Mou Roychowdhury, the film stars Anurag Kashyap, Rituparna Sengupta and Upendra Limaye in major roles. The film began principal photography on 25 May 2019 and the first look poster was launched by Kashyap on his Instagram page. The film was released theatrically on 16 April 2021 in India. Hari Viswanath (born on 18 December) is an Indian film director, producer and screenwriter. He is an engineer-turned-filmmaker from Chennai, India. He was the jury member of Indian Panorama section of International Film Festival of India 2017 in Goa. His passion for film stems from accompanying his father to his theatre performances. Being closely associated with theatre crystallized his vision and path for himself. Inspired by real life incidents, he wrote and directed his debut short film "Idukkan" ("Sufferings") which won the "Best Short Film" award in the Norway Tamil Film Festival 2013. Bansuri
A bansuri is an ancient side blown flute originating from the Indian subcontinent. It is an aerophone produced from bamboo and metal like material used in Hindustani classical music. It is referred to as ''nadi'' and ''tunava'' in the ''Rigveda'' and other Vedic texts of Hinduism. Its importance and operation is discussed in the Sanskrit text ''Natya Shastra''. A ''bansuri'' is traditionally made from a single hollow shaft of bamboo with six or seven finger holes. Some modern designs come in ivory, fiberglass and various metals. The six hole instrument covers two and a half octaves of music. The ''bansuri'' is typically between and in length, and the thickness of a human thumb. One end is closed, and few centimeters from the closed end is its blow hole. Longer ''bansuris'' feature deeper tones and lower pitches. Danish Husain is the stage name of Murtaza Danish Husaini, an Indian actor, storyteller, poet and theatre director. He has also been credited as Dan Husain and Murtaza Danish Husain. Early life, family and education Murtaza Danish Husaini was born into a Muslim family. His mother was a professor of Persian literature at Delhi University. His father was an economist.
