Bankfoot Athletic Football Club were a Scottish junior football club based in Bankfoot, near Perth. The SJFA restructured prior to the 2006–07 season, and Athletic found themselves in the twelve-team East Region, Central Division. They finished twelfth (bottom) in their first season in the division. The club spent the 2013–14 season in abeyance owing to a lack of committee members and at the Scottish Junior Football Association's AGM on 21 June 2014 it was announced that Bankfoot had withdrawn as members of the SJFA. Bankfoot
Bankfoot is a village in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, approximately north of Perth and south of Dunkeld. Bankfoot had a population of 1,136 in 2001. In the 2011 Census the population of Bankfoot was 1,110 people with there being a slightly higher number of male residents (51.4%) than female residents (48.6%). It was found that 33% of Bankfoot residents were aged 60 or older. Education The village has a primary school – Auchtergaven Primary School – which is named after the Church of Scotland parish of Auchtergaven, in which Bankfoot resides. Pubs and hotels The village has two licensed premises: the Bankfoot Inn and the Atholl Inn. The Bankfoot Inn is a restored 18th-century coaching inn which has a public bar with real ales, a lounge bar with fire and a restaurant. Scottish Junior Football Association
The Scottish Junior Football Association (SJFA) is an affiliated national association of the Scottish Football Association and is the governing body for the junior grade of football in Scotland. The term "junior" refers to the level of football played, not the age of the players. The closest equivalent terminology would be non-League football in England, the difference being that junior football in Scotland was not similarly integrated into its football league system until 2021. Founded in 1886, the SJFA is responsible for disciplinary matters within the grade, certain player registration procedures and organising the annual Scottish Junior Cup. The Scottish Junior Football East Region Central Division was a third-tier division of the East Region of the Scottish Junior Football Association. The league came into existence under the 'Central' name for the 2006–07 season, although a 'Fife District league' had been in place below the East Super League since 2002–03, using the structure of a common 'East Region' top tier and lower regional divisions in place of the old structure of three separate regional leagues in that part of Scotland, with the Fife Junior Football League the historic local competition. The ''Perthshire Advertiser'' (originally the ''Perthshire Advertiser and Strathmore Journal'') is a tabloid newspaper, published by Reach plc, in Perth, Scotland. The ''PA'', as it is commonly known, has two editions, a Tuesday and Friday. Beginning life in 1829 as the ''Strathmore Journal'', and published in Coupar Angus, the 'Strathmore' was renamed the ''Perthshire Advertiser and Strathmore Journal. Paul Sturrock
Paul Whitehead Sturrock (born 10 October 1956) is a Scottish former association football, football coach and former player. As a player, Sturrock spent his entire senior career with Dundee United, making more than five hundred appearances between 1974 and 1989. He won the Scottish Football League title with United in 1982–83 Scottish Premier Division, 1982–83 and the Scottish League Cup twice, in 1979 Scottish League Cup Final (December), 1979 and 1980 Scottish League Cup Final, 1980. Jim Weir
James McIntosh Weir (born 15 June 1969) is a Scottish professional football player and coach. Weir played in the senior Scottish leagues for Hamilton Academical, Hearts and St. Johnstone. He has also worked as manager of Montrose, Arbroath, Brechin City, Elgin City and Forfar Athletic. Playing career After starting in youth football with his hometown boys club, Motherwell Orbiston, Weir signed professionally with Hamilton Accies in 1987. He spent six years at Douglas Park, making close to 200 league appearances for the club, before joining Premier League Hearts, then under the guidance of Sandy Clark.
